The problem here is that Vicodin is a mixed medication. Vicodin contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen. While hydrocodone is a narcotic, it is the smaller dosage medication in the pill, on average 5-10 mg per pill. Acetaminophen doses per pill can be as high as 750 mg. This is where the problem can rise. Acetaminophen creates a toxin in the liver. Normally this is not a problem, as a healthy liver can metabolize and deal with prescribed doses of the drug. However, the "3000 mg" of vicodin often refers to the acetaminophen portion, and 3000 mgs of acetaminophen is 3 times the highest recommended dosage. In short, 3000 mg of acetaminophen is likely to kill a healthy adult.

There is a minor discrepancy in the online calculators - half i checked say 10mg of norco is the equivilant to 2mg of hydromorphone - others say 20mg of norco is equal to 6mg of hydromorphone - my best medical educated guess as a medical professional is that the actual calculation falls in the middle & they are estimating the difference. The suboxene works by seeking out and adhering to,therefore blocking the bodies opiate receptor cells and does so for 1-3 days depending on your body weight,activities and metabolism.You can take all the HYDROCODONE you want but you won't feel them because it wants to bind to the same sites (opiate receptors) that the suboxene is already blocking off.Odd course it slowly wears off but the half life of suboxene is relatively high meaning it will still be working (although to a lesser extent) for 2 to 3 days..cosiderably more then the 26 hours you inquired about.

Vicodin should not be given to 'calm' people down as you put it. It's for pain. It's normally given after the fact, ie, after surgery, after you broke a bone. You can give it before an office procedures, like biopsies, vasectomies, ect, for pain to come. It won't help with the anxiety. If you have surgery in the hospital in the OR, you don't need it because you'll be 'out' to feel pain. To 'calm' somebody, you need something for anxiety like Ativan, Restoril, Xanax, ect.

Out to 2500 mg and you do that three times a day that would be 7500 mg of tylenol. A day and doing that every day. The closest medication would be Tramacet (Tramadol HCL 37.5mg/Paracetamol 325) or maybe Codydramol (Dihydrocodeine 7.5-10mg/Paracetamol 500mg). None of these two are close enough though to be called equivalent to Vicodin.
