I have a permanent injury and have a darvocet prescription. Without thinking I took a dose of my wifes hydrocodone cough syrup for a recent cold. I already have opiates in my system from the darvocet so I'm hoping it will just show up as an opiate. Are urine drug tests so specific that it will show each and every drug or just the category such as opiates? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

A standard hair follicle screen covers a period of approximately 90 days, but is susceptible to time variation depending on the growth rate of your hair. The hair sample is cut as close to the scalp as possible and the most recent 3.9cm (or 1.5 inches) are tested. It is possible to go back even further than 90 days since the time period is limited only by the length of the hair sample, but is standardized to a 90 day history.

got this from a website... netwellness.org
"Certain drugs like the opiates (heroin, Vicodin, codeine, Tylenol #3 etc,) can have an effect on sperm morphology (the sperm having a normal or abnormal anatomy) and motility (the sperm swimming normally). These influences on sperm tend to have an "all or none" effect. In other works, these sperm are so abnormal that women tend not to become pregnant from these affected sperm. Women are also, therefore less likely to become pregnant if a large percentage of there sperm are abnormal."

VICODIN IN YOUR SYSTEMTHIS QUESTION SHOULD NOT be under "illegal drugs" listing, as it is a legal prescription drug. HOWEVER, if it is misused, it would be illegal USE of a controlled substance. IF it is obtained without a prescription or valid need, it is a State and Federal crime. If it is prescribed by a physician for a valid reason, you shouldn't have to worry about it being in your system, for a urine test for example. Opioid Analgesics, depending on amount used, can be detected in your system for at LEAST 48 to 72 hours. Urine drug testing looks for but is not limited to: cannabis (marijuana, hashish), opioids, cocaine, heroin, stimulants (i.e. speed, methylphenidate [Ritalin]), benzodiazepines (i.e. Valium, Ativan etc.), sleeping pills (i.e. Dalmane, chloral hydrate, Halcion). Again, if you have a medical need and a valid prescription from a doctor, you shouldn't have to worry about it when they find it in your urine or blood.Save

Does hydrocodone contain acetaminophen?
i don't know my grandma needs to know
Hydrocodone can be combined with aspirin. But hydrocodone is a drug itself, that does not contain any aspirin. Check the packaging, does it contain just hydrocodone in the ingredients? or does it have other ingredients. Paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen are all drugs that can be added to help prevent the abuse of the drug.

Can you take alcohol with vicodin?
Vicodin contains acetaminophen, normally 500mg of it. Drinking alcohol along with acetaminophen can screw up your liver, especially if you drink more than 2 or 3 drinks a day normally. Most of the time and for most people, a glass or 2 of wine, 2 beers, or 2 mixed drinks won't kill you, but it's best to avoid alcohol entirely if you're taking anything with acetaminophen in it--and that's a LOT of different drugs including Tylenol, Excedrin, Vicodin, Percocet, etc. I've done it plenty of times with no harmful effects, but that was when I was young and stupid--it only takes once to kill you.
Drinking alcohol with Valium will intensify the effect of both the Valium and the alcohol. Again, one or two drinks won't kill you, but it might if you're behind the wheel of a car. Best to avoid one or the other.

This is probably counter-productive if you're trying to treat ADD or anxiety. These drugs have relatively opposite effects and will cancel each-other out to some extent.

Is Darvocet and vicodin the same?
No.
Darvocet is a Schedule IV narcotic, on the lowest class of opiate analgesics. While an opiate derivative, it's relatively weak when it comes to pain medication. Being a Schedule IV drug, you can get refills and a doctor can call it in. It is in the same class as Codeine.
Percocet is a Schedule II narcotic, a combination of Oxycodone and Tylenol. It is normally given only to patients with previous experience/tolerance to opiates at lower levels. The Schedule II narcotics cannot be refilled, nor can they be called in to a pharmacy - you must have an original prescription from your doctor for each fill.
Darvocet isn't even close in potency to Percocet, although some Pharmacists believe Darvocet to be more toxic.
