It depends if you want a show dog, or a regular dog. You can buy them from stores (Petco, PetSmart...) but that would be promoting puppy mills. If you buy them from a responsible breeder, it could range from 600 to 1500. I got mine for 800 from a good breeder.

My westie goes to the groomer about once every 4 to 6 weeks usually with a bath in between. The most important thing to make sure of is no matter who is washing him that you use hypoallergenic shampoo, westies are super prone to allergies and anything with perfume can be very irritating.

It is most likely just dirt. My Westie often starts to look blonde, or cream if she hasn't been to the groomers in a few weeks because the dirt from running around outside are started to stain her coat.

Pollen/grass/mold/other allergy (atopy), food allergy, maybe flea allergy. It could just be grass seeds, stuck between their paws. Mine does that sometimes, too. But she doesn't chew it all up!! She licks it and bites a little and then stops. Also, it could be thistles or this: my breeder told me I should check every month or two my westie's paws and cut the fur between her "fingers". He also told me if I don't do this, I may see my dog biting her paws. These may be the reasons. If none of this helps, call a veterinarian IMMIDIATELY!

No. Westies should have pure white hair. A black spot could mean the dog is not a purered Westie, or there's another breed in somewhere back in the dog's line.

My Westie was most likely inbred and he has a pancreatic disorder (not diabetes) that would be fatal if we were not treating it. But Westies are no diffrent than other dogs, they can have the same effects.

A purebred West highland white terrier should be born with black nose and eyes. Paws should be white. Perhaps you are thinking of a different type of dog.

Now this is only an educated assumption, but I would assume a mini schnauzer because mine doesn't shed at all.

West Highland White Terriers shed very minimally,or seemingly not at all. If yours is shedding "a lot" then either: a.) it is not a purered Westie or b.) your Westie has a skin allergy and is losing hair rather than "shedding". (Allergies are common in these dogs...many times it's their food they are reacting to, but see a vet to be certain.)

The facial characteristics of Westies will vary according to their parents and their respective bloodlines. Pay close attention to the attributes of both parents when you are selecting puppies. I recommend purchasing from true Westie lovers who have both parents available for you to visit with. Inspect their papers carefully. While AKC and APR are reputable, they mostly only provide paperwork that can be manipulated by disreputable dog sellers. If you do not feel right about the seller, move on.

Hello. Yes this can be a symptom of pregnancy. But the tell tale symptom is no period.

You should wash your cannula with soap and water at least twice a week, and replace it at least once a month. If you are sick with a cold or similar infection, you should replace your cannula immediately after feeling better.

My Female Westie lived a long 15 1/2 years with "joint problems". And only needed rare Rimadryl or Valium ( as a muscle relaxer)

They're hyperactive when young (not all but most), then get gradually grumpier.

They growl a lot, but it's not serious growling (like starting a fight), it's more just like "Do I HAAAVVEE TOOO?". They're not generally dangerous.

Strangely, a common grumpy among westies is touching their paws - not sure why.

They may be grumpy as they get older, but they're still lovely and cute and adorable! It's more of a "Grrr...freakin' moving me when I'm comfy...freakin' annoyin' humans... etc" growl.
