No, they're not illegal, they are simply not Westies.

Westies go into "season" about as often as any other dog, about every 6 months. However, every individual dog is different. They can be months off of this "schedule. If you do not plan on breeding or showing her, then it is reccomended that you get her spayed.

Check with your doctor, this could be Urticaria there are different types of Urticaria, basically it is an allergic reaction eg. AquaUrticaria is allergy to water. Unfortunately there is a high percentage of Urticaria where the allergy is not known this is called IdiopathicUrticaria, which means there is an allergy from an unknown source, the rash can be controlled by Antihistamines

For example: Long neck from the westie, minature size from the yorkie, colouring would be mixed, they will be fluffy and quite barky because of the terrier in them.

Westies were bred to kill vermin in Scotland. They usually dig to get to their prey's underground burrows. Today, westies are not usually called upon to perform their jobs, but they still have the instinct. Today, they are used in search-and-rescue work, therapy dogs (not guide dogs), and as beloved family pets and show dogs. They are also good at agility.

westies do shed hair i don't care what anybody says they do and if thinking of buying a dog good for asthma I can only suggest a poodle as they loose no hair.

Neutering should not change his temperament at all ....but it may change a couple behaviors that many dog owners find annoying in un-neutered male dogs. Specifically it will likely stop him from "marking territory" with urine sprays and will discourage (but not eliminate) urges to roam as male dogs tend to do that in search of female dogs in heat.


(But that does NOT mean your male Westie will become an "off-leash" dog .... terriers do not do well off-leash as they are far too curious and distractable as well as being very fast runners!)

i don't think its just westies that have dry noses because i have one myself and it only has a dry nose once in a while, so try getting it to drink more or something, i don't think westies are known for dry noses, they are known for sensitive skin, that's why i have a special shampoo for mine, u can get them at Pets at Home

My Westie boy (3 years old) will walk pretty much as long as I'll walk, but they have trouble cooling, sometimes, so don't walk when it's really hot out. We also take along a folding fabric bowl, and our water bottle, so we can give him a drink. Any pet store carries the collapsible bowls, though sometimes you can find them cheaper at a Christmas Tree Shop or Dollar Store.

Carin terriers do not run very fast, and can run at a comparable speed of dogs that are similar in size. However, carin terriers should not be allowed to run free without a leash or a fenced in area.

Westie beards should NEVER be brown, if it is that means the dog's white fur is badly stained. Sometimes reddish-brown "rust" stains can happenfrom minerals in their drinking water. If that happens start giving the Westie filtered water. (A Brita filter will do.) The rust stains will eventually grow out. If you want to remove the stains in the meantime, there are commercial products available, or see a dog groomer.

This is absoutely normal!!! Mine does too!!! That is just how their breed is. They are very lazy.

It depends if you want a show dog, or a regular dog. You can buy them from stores (Petco, PetSmart...) but that would be promoting puppy mills. If you buy them from a responsible breeder, it could range from 600 to 1500. I got mine for 800 from a good breeder.
