What are the advantages of client-server networking over peer-peer networking?

Client-server networking is centralized - Resources and data security are controlled through the server. Scalability - Any or all elements can be replaced individually as needs increase. Flexibility - New technology can be easily integrated into system. Interoperability - All components (client/network/server) work together. Accessibility - Server can be accessed remotely and across multiple platforms. Speed - network will run far better as data and resources are handled by a dedicated machine. Also currently the user of the machine experiences poor performance when everyone accesses it's resources. Backup - as all data is stored centrally it is easy to backup. Support and management - as the server controls the majority of settings on the network etc the job of support is far easier as the main element of support is provided to the server and not individual machines. Global changes are easy to make from one location.

Client/server allows the installation of anti-virus on a dedicated server, this means that all stations that are connected to that server are protected against viruses. In peer to peer, each station has to be installed with the anti-virus. Because peer to peer allows the sharing of files it is possible that some files are infected and because anti-virus is not as effective on peer to peer, the virus would get in and disrupt the network.

What is the simplest form of a wireless network and what mode does this type of network use?

A point-to-point radio network is the simplest form of wireless network. A point-topoint link is composed of two radios in direct communication with each other with dedicated bandwidth. Point-to-point links are ideally suited for high-performance, dedicated corporate j t connections, high-speed inter nest links or backup/back- applications. These links are generally quick to deploy but typically require RF planning and professional installation. Point-to-point radios are available in several licensed frequencies and in the unlicensed ISM (2.4 / 5.8 GHz) bands and can achieve distances of up to 50 miles. Point-to-point applications and users include cellular/PCS base station backhaul, last mile provisioning, private network interconnect, utilities, enterprise/corporations, disaster recovery and LAN/WAN/Internet connectivity.

Routers do not need any CD in order to connect to it. If you mean that you do not have a driver for the wireless adapter you get it from the manufacture website (Netgear, Linksys and so on).

Which is more faster wired Internet or wireless Internet and why?

Wired internet is faster as it works in full duplex mode (can send and receive at a time). Wireless works using half duplex mode, requires a middle device (like access point) for transmission and various other factors like devices using the same radio signal frequency (2.4 GHz) affect its transmission

Your brothers conputer tells him he has a strong connection to the internet but the pages do not load fire fox and ie take about 30 secs to load but in the end it comes up page cant be displayed etc?

You need to make sure that your router has access to internet. If it works fine, check firewall settings on your brother's computer. Also you need make sure that the computer is connected to the wireless network. For that you need to use "ping" command.

PS: some viruses block access to internet.

What happens when your logging in the default gateway like 192.168.0.1 and you don't know its password and username?

I assume you are logging into the default gateway because you wish to change something in the configuration (that is really the only reason for requiring authentication in a DG).

If you don't know the userid and password you will need to find someone who does. Unless you are responsible for that DG they aren't likely to tell you.

What is a single hop wireless network?

The word "hop" means a short jump on one foot. In wireless networks, data packets find their paths through routers or in general gateways. Each time a packet is passed to the next router a "hop" occurs. The function of intermediate hops is to relay data from one hop to the next one. Therefore in a wireless network, single-hop means that there is only one hop between source station and destined host. Wireless stations are connected to wireless access points (WAPs) which connects to router via a wired network. In other words, host connects to base station (i.e. wireless access point such as WiFi, WiMAX, cellular) which connects to larger network (e.g. Internet).

Where could one purchase Powerline Network Adapters?

What is a protocol mismatch?

If the sending and receiving protocols are different, then you have a mismatch. Think of a speaker using French but the receiver only understanding Spanish. They will not be able to understand each other, and this is what happens with network protocols.

They can see the communication but have no clue about the content or what to do with the request.

What is a password that unlock all wifi?

Implementations of VNC?
