A brand new one is a couple thousand depending on the brand, so i would expect up in 800 to 1, 500 range. But you should probably buy a new mouthpiece. That's what i did and it works great. But i had it checked before i bought it. You don't want anything broken.

Start by talking to Harmony. She will ask you to make her a new clarinet. To make it, go and see Xamba on Jungle Isle. He will need molds for the keys and 5 logs of ebony wood, but he tells you that he can make the molds and so you just need to get him the wood. When you have the logs, return to him and he will tell you to go and see Sandy Flint, the rock shop owner in Appleton to take the molds and ask him for reeds and keys. Go to Sandy, he will tell you to get him 25 silver ore to fill in the keys. When you have the ores, bring them back to him and he will then tell you to go and see Barrett on Tail Isle for the reeds. Barrett will give you a box of reeds for 1k. Then, when your done talking to Barrett, travel back to Sandy Flint. He will give you the molds and the bag of clarinet keys to take back to Xamba. When you get back to Xamba, he will make the clarinet and give it to you. Then, take it back to Harmony.

the best way to break in clarinet reeds is just to play on them, maybe keep it in your mouth for longer than usual.

to improve this answer actually play long tones in chromatics like concert f(g) you go down one half step and back up a whole step that's what i do at least i hope this could help a bit more everyone

Don't do what that guy up there says If you want good reeds that last there are a few steps you should take. When you first get a reed, slap it on, play for a minute or so to get the feel of it. Then, soak it in water for say 30 seconds, no more than that. Then, lie it on a flat, clear surface (preferebly glass) and rub the read with your index finger on the side without the numbers and reed company. This will close the reed pores, insuring that your reed will last longer and it will not get waterloggod. Don't play a reed too much. Proffesionals usually altarnate several reeds so they don't wear them out too fast. Keep in mind, always dry your reed thourougly before putting it pack into a reed case, or else the humidity could cause the reed to warp. If you think your reeds are playing too hard or they aren't balanced, you can always buy a reed knife or sandpaper (find instructions to do it online as it takes a while to explain) to finish your reeds into perfection. Also make sure the reeds you are using are the right size and brand for you, and your mouthpiece combination. If all your reeds are sounding terrible when you take them out of the box, get a different type or size.

I feel that you first rub it on a hard surface to get rid of the bad taste ( rub gently), then you keep it in your mouth for like 15 minutes. Then with a loose ligature, you play while slowly tightening it. This will allow it to break in, while practicing music. At the same time you will get used to it.

Music historians believe that the first clarinet was made in 1700 by Johann Christoph Denner, a German instrument maker living in Nierenberg, Germany. The clarinet was modeled on an early instrument called chalumeau.

The chalumeau was at its best playing low notes, whereas the high notes were of poor quality. Johann discovered that by adding an additional finger hole in the upper end of the tube, a higher range of notes could be reached. To improve the reliability of the high notes, the thick, crudely shaped reed of the chalumeau was made narrower and more slender. In fact the first clarinet was simply a high-sounding chalumeau. Early clarinets sounded more like a trumpet when heard from a distance.

Johann Denner died in 1707, but his work was carried on by his son, Jacob Denner, who reshaped the end of the tube into a bell to improve the projection of sound, and increased the range of notes. To improve the accuracy of drilling the tube, and to make tuning easier, the body of the new instrument was made in several closely fitting jointed sections.

During the eighteenth century, instrument makers continued to remodel and improve the clarinet, concentrating particularly on the fingering system. By 1750, the clarinet had made great strides since Denner's first model, and composers were beginning to include it in their work. As the nineteenth century wore on, other instrument makers, including Adolphe Sax, continued to adjust and modify the clarinet. Today a variety of different instruments and fingering systems are in use.

It depends on what kind of lip piercing you're talking about. For a labret piercing, it'd seriously affect the reed and make it impossible to play. Plus it'd hurt like hell.

For a piercing on the side (snake bites, spider bites, a ring on the side) it would probably affect your embouchure, but it would likely still be possible to play.
