How do zoos get the dead animals out of their cages?
They lock the live animals in a separate part of the cage and go in to pick up the dead one. The cages have separate areas so that the zookeepers can clean the cages out and put fresh food and toys inside for the animals, so if an animal dies, they can go get it and cremate the body.
Yes, China has what are called "Zoos" there. But these facilities don't seem to follow a mission statement, the average person would recognize. When feeding time includes, live animals staked out for tigers to kill, and the amusement of the crowd, or a goat tossed over a fence to waiting lions, so a crowd can bet on how long it can remain alive. This is not what a "zoo" does for the education, and enlightenment of it's visitors. At the time of the Olympics in China reports of such things had surfaced, but the government had insisted they were freakish events. Why should there not be zoo's?
In my opinion, there shouldn't be zoos, because the animals have a right to live a free life, without being in a cage, and having people staring at them all day long, being fed what the zookeepers want to feed them, eating when the zookeepers have it scheduled. It's just not the life for an animal. But there are zoos, like the Maine Wildlife Park, where they take in animals because they were hurt in the wild, care for them, protect them from predators, and make sure they get all the things they need to eat to recover from their injuries.

What are the words to the poem Excuse us animals in the zoo I am sure we're very rude to you?
Excuse Us, Animals in the Zoo
Excuse us, Animals in the Zoo,
I'm sure we're very rude to you;
Into your private house we stare
And never ask you if you care;
And never ask you if you mind.
Perhaps we really are not kind;
I think it must be hard to stay
And have folks looking in all day,
I wouldn't like my house that way.
Excuse us, Animals in the Zoo,
I'm sure we're very rude to you;
Suppose you all to our house came
And stared at us and called our name.
I hardly think we'd like it at all
In a house that didn't have a wall.
No wonder you pace up and down the floor
And growl a little or even roar-
I'm sure if 'twere we, we'd growl much more.
Excuse us, Animals in the Zoo,
I'm sure we're very rude to you.
-ANNETTE WYNNE
Please be (a lot) more specific. The San Diego Zoo, for instance, operates what until recently was called CRES, the Center for the Reproduction of Endangered Species. (it still exists, they just changed the name and I forget the new one).
(It's now called the Institute for Conservation Research. This represents a broadening, rather than a narrowing, of their aims; they are still very much concerned with preserving endangered species.)
Can you take your dog to the zoo?
The answer I got from the two I researched was a loud no! They don't want guests to have to worry about a dog on a leash during their visit for a number of reasons. One main reason, they can't predict the dogs reaction to the animals, this can cause undue stress for the animals and needs to be avoided. Also, the Zoos are concerned about the dogs remaining on the leash at all times, there is never a way to "police a leash policy", so the rule to keep dogs out. These are just two of the reasons, there were other issues, but these were the main ones.
