I think it may be a larder beetle - also known as Dermestes Lardarius.

Centepede= Cienpiés. Literally cienpiés means "one hundred feet". It is a compound word consisting of cien (see/EN) meaning one hundred, and pies (pee/ES) feet. Both these words are one syllable words.

Cienpiés is both singular and plural. It can refer to one centepede or many centepedes. So when this word is used one should always qualify numbers, similar to the English word "deer".

Even though the word "ciento" also means 100 when followed by another number, Cientopiés is NOT a correct alternative word. The only other Spanish word that can be used as a translation for centipede is the the word for the type of insect miriápodo (Myriapod).

Many insects use the position of the Sun as a navigation tool.

If a source of light is bright enough and contains ultraviolet light, the insect will be confused by it and believing it is the Sun, will start to fly in progressivly smaller circles around the light source as it tries to navigate.

This effect is used by electric fly killers which use a UV light to attract flys to the lamp which is behind an electrically charged mesh of wires. The fly navigates into the lamp but is electrocuted by the mesh.

Tiger beetles are considered the fastest crawling insects on the planet. They can travel at approximately 8.2 inches per second.

Termites will eat any type of wood, as long as the wood is dead.

You can get special termite treated wood that they will not eat, ask at your local timber supplier, most of them will probably have to order it in.

THE SHORT ANSWER IS, as a general rule, any pesticide that kills fleas or ticks will also kill termites. But only specific pesticides applied correctly will indirectly kill the entire termite nest. For more detailed information please refer to my book "I KILL TERMITES - YOU CAN TOO"

The Trychonympha benefits from the termite because the Trychonympha gets CELLULASE from the termite, which is the thing in the Trychonympha that actually does the "breaking down" of the cellulose. Without eachother, they wouldn't be able to survive.

They follow certain colors becuase of the pheromones, or scents, in the pens or markers. Usually, scout termites will leave a trail of pheromones for other termites to follow. They think there will be food at the end of the trail, so that is why they follow it.

Cover, cuts, roughness, sanitation, smells and water are ways to control ants in gardens. The insects in question (Formicidae family) flourish where there are bare earth, cracked surfaces, disturbed grounds, high vegetation and yard debris. Ground covers, particularly of strong smelling plants such as marigolds and mints, regular removal of lawn cuttings and leaf drop, rough materials such as diatomaceous earth or scratchy organic mulches, and weekly mows along with such home remedies as cinnamon and salt sprinkled on bare and not-so-bare patches and as hot water poured into ant-friendly openings will help keep ant populations controllable.
