If by 'new world', you mean 'America', the the name of the colony is Brasil. Today it is a country in South America, which has natural beauty, size and poverty in equal quantities.
I will take the liberty to say also that the word 'colony' comes from 'colonus', a latin expression meaning 'slave'.
