No one voted against, however eight members did not adopt it; the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, People's Republic of Poland, Union of South Africa and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

This declaration provided for the universal protection of fundamental human rights. 48 countries signed UDHR and included Venezuela, Uruguay, United States of America, United Kingdom, Turkey, Syria, Sweden, Siam, Philippines, Peru, Paraguay, Panama, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, , Liberia, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, India, Iceland, Haiti, Guatemala, Greece, France, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Egypt, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Denmark, Cuba, Costa Rica, Colombia, China, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, Burma, Belgium, Australia, Argentina and Afghanistan.
