Will a clogged catalytic converter stop a 2003 ford windstar from starting?

I've seen them stopped up pretty bad, to where they will shut off almost immediately, but it should still start for a few seconds at least at least. Check to make sure theft system ot activated, fuel at valve on rail, spark-go from there.

What could be wrong with a 1997 Geo Metro that will not run but will idle for a few seconds?

You might have a catalytic converter that is clogged. Could be the fuel pump. It may be providing enough fuel to start and operate the vehicle, but shuts down immediately so your engine starves. Could be out of time! MAy have jumped! I have a 93 doing the same thing and it jumped time on me!

Can a bad catalytic converter cause a car not to run?

yes a bad catalytic converter can make different problem 1 if is clog is so much restriction the engine don't start or run a few seconds or few minutes and stall if the damage cat is bank 1 and direct fit some pieces reach the [ egr ] valve and can get stuck open and the engine don't start or shakes allot

Would a catalytic converter cause your car not to start?

If the cat was totally blocked, the engine may start and run briefly for a few seconds. If the cat was partially blocked the engine would run but lack serious power.

1992 ford bronco custom full size your oil pressure is very low at idle the engine sometimes stutters and the check engine light comes on for a few seconds if you go over 50mph then goes off.?

When your cars is idle the oil pressure should drop, when you accelerate it should rise. The car stutter sounds like a catalytic converter goin out

2000 Toyota Echo starts for a few seconds Stops Already replaced fuel pump and filter without improvement?

IS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON? IF SO, DOES IT HAVE CODE 0420? IF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS BLOCKED, THE ENGINE WILL RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND STOP BECAUSE THE EXHAUST BUILDS UP TOO MUCH BACK PRESSURE.

How many seconds is in thirty seven years?

How do you replace the o2 sensor on a Pontiac Sunfire?

There should be 2 O2 sensors on that vehicle. The first one is on the engine side of the Catalytic converter that is the upstream o2 sensor and the second one primarily comes after the catalytic converter down the exhaust pipe.Depending on the age of your vehicle you will need a wrench ( and possibly a snipe) to take the old o2 sensors off. Also be sure to disconnect the harness before loosening the 02 sensor and disconnect the battery negative terminal for 30 seconds to erase the engine code and turn off your check engine light

How can you tell if your catalytic converter is bad in a 1989 Chevy S10?

That can be difficult to answer. The symptoms can mimic other problems such as a plugged fuel filter, or a faulty coil. Do this with the windows down, and all accessories (blower motor, radio, etc.) turned off. Drive down a quiet street in your neighborhood, or if you can find it, a deserted street. Stop the vehicle, and then apply moderate acceleration. The truck should accelerate normally, but after a few seconds, it seems to lose power, and if you can hear a hissing coming from the seams of the exhaust, (because of all the built up pressure) then there is a good chance you do have a clogged converter. Some shops use a by-pass pipe temporarily to diagnose this problem. Not a cheap one either, that is for sure.

Why does 1997 grand prix engine runs a few seconds then dies restarts runs a few seconds then dies again?

catylatic converter is plugged

What if your car starts and stays on for about 5 seconds then shuts off what can it be?

Could be a clogged or partially clogged fuel filter, and/or the fuel pump itself. The asker doesn't say whether the car will restart immediately after is stalls or not.

Why will Car will run for 5 seconds when jumped at solenoid then stops?

Loose battery connection, clogged air filter, clogged fuel filter, bad EGR valve, misadjusted idle, and many more. It depends on how it "stops".
