Where is the thermostat located at on a 1994 Infinity J30?

It's hard to reach. You need a 12mm socket and a metric Allen wrench set that's somewhat long. I just replaced mine. It was difficult. Remove the fan. Remove the air inductions. I took off the alternator belt too. Some of those bolts were practically seized in there. Using anti-seize paste is recommended on reinstallation. You don't have to remove the water pump. The themostat is above the pump, at about two o'clock. I used a backflush kit too to clean the system out. Those kits are at all auto part stores. Prestone makes them.

AND DON'T DUMP THE ANTIFREEZE!! IT'S HIGHLY TOXIC. Ethylene Glycol breaks down into formaldehyde. It's sweet. Pets drink it and die of kidney failure. It takes only a teaspoon. Service stations that have a garage are required by law to accept your antifreeze. They will want to know that there's no other garbage in it, though, (like oil).

Most are located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose

What does the A T Check light flashing on your J30 mean?

The blinking light indicates that it is time for a check-up. The cimputer automatically does this upon hitting a specific mileage. I am suffering from the same thing with my J30. When I find the reset button, I'll update this section.

What is the difference between 91 octane and 95 octane?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

91 octane petrol will ignite at a lower temperature and burn faster, which can cause knocking in an auto engine. Lead compounds were added at one time to raise the octane rating, but recently engines have been redesigned to work on low (<98) octane petrol (or gas in the US colonies)

because you have a problem with your Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)

this sometimes occurs when you have come to a sudden stop (thereby engaging the abs) it will usually go off again after you restart your car. IF IT DOESNT GO OFF BY ITSELF, GET IT CHECKED OUT!!!! by a professional

Why does a 1993 Infinity J30 shake after replacing all the plugs?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

J30's don't have a distributor. Each cylinder has its own ignition coil controlled from the engine computer.

It sounds like it is misfiring as one of the cylinders is now no longer reaching ignition.

I'd say double check the connections. Push on each plug to make sure they are completely engaged. I am talking about the power source to the coil.

Hopefully, you didn't overtorque the plugs and strip the cylinder head sparkplug sockets. Only about 15-18 ft./lbs. are needed.

It is possible that the wires from the distributor were not replaced to their corresponding spark plugs. Did you use the correct replacement plugs? The J30 requires platinum-tipped spark plugs.

What could cause 1995 J30 to overheat and run hot?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Check the simple things first. With your engine COLD, open the radiator cap and check to see if there's coolant filled all the way to the bottom of the neck. If you look inside and see the slots inside your radiator, then you need to add a 50/50 dilution of coolant (purge). If it's full, then your problem may just be the thermostat (widely available). If that part is okay, you might need a new water pump (overheating problems are so much fun to troubleshoot). Other causes are blocked radiator tines (from bugs and leaves and other road junk), your timing is too far advanced (your spark plugs will tell you for sure), or you may have far more serious problems (warped heads, blown head gasket (check for water or sludge on your oil dipstick). Good luck. Steven
