You can use a shop air compressor to do this. It requires some jury rigging, but I did this. You must power the solenoid valve that controls the spring, which means making a connector (a pain) or getting one from the junk yard. Then insert the pastic tubing into a suitably sized rubber hose and attach it to a hand valve and your compressor hose. Power the solenoid and open the air valve. I found 80 PSI will raise the car.
Air ride compressor, air suspension compressor, and air pump are the names used for the same device. They are used to pump up the air suspension.
Not that I know of. Yes see answer posted by "Lincolnator" on how to do this.
Either the air suspension relay that is behind the passenger side wheel well or the compressor.
nope its ran though a pump under your passenger front fender
no you do not yo may have to bleed out all the air
Not a good idea. Special hand pump required. See your local dealer.
I had a friend replace the air suspension compressor pump with a used one that I bought on ebay. The air compressor pump is located under the windshied washer fluid container. You have to take a cover plate off to get to it or even see it. We discovered that the top of the air suspension compressor pump, where the air hose goes into it, screws off with a crescent wrench. So we just left the hose attached to the top of the pump and replaced the body of the the pump. I have no idea how you would just replace the hose.
air suspension switch in trunk. compressor under hood
there are several causes to the air pump. the first and most obvious is the air pump (compressor) itself. if you do not hear the compressor pumping air or if you do not feel the slight vibration of the compressor when you put your car into drive, then it's probably the compressor that has gone bad. if the compressor is coming on and you do not hear any air leaking, then your problem could be the height adjuster, located on the suspension bags themselves. Bronconvict: another possibility includes the compressor relay switch. This switch controlls the power to the air bag suspension compressor. This switch is known for burning out when the suspension compressor is working too hard. This can also be caused by a bad/corroded GEM module (due to notorious winshield leak). i had to replace "height sensor" on driver side . part was $200.
The air pump (compressor) is located on the driver side fender underneath the air filter box. Once you remove the air filter box, you will have to remove the compressor bolts from inside the wheel well.
Yes and no, depends if its an electronically controlled with sensor air bag, 1990's thru 2002 the air ride suspension is electronically controlled, if you have this you cant fill them manually, the only way you can fill a suspension manually is if you have air filled shock absorbers, there is a little black nipple on the side you add air from an air pump so your suitable air ride height, do not attempt to add air to an ECAB on lincolns.
Best bet is E-Bay
