YOu have to remove the brake caliper, rotor, ,take the nut off that holds the shaft, disconnect the strut, and lower control arm to get them out of the way. Loosen the shaft by putting a large screw driver between the transaxle and the half shaft and it should snap out. Replace in reverse order. NOTE: when inserting the new shaft make sure IT SNAPS firmly into place,,,try to pull it out by hand you shouldn't be able to.
It's not a real difficult job but get yourself a Haynes Manual at an auto parts store, IT will show you entire procedure.
98 chevy s10
You must replace entire axle.
51.53 inches from u-joint center to u-joint center
Remove 2 small u-bolts from rear end yoke Pry drive shaft out of yoke Slide front end of drive shaft off front splines
First mark the drive shaft location at both ends. Remove the bolts holding the U-Joint together and drop the driveshaft. The U-joints are installed and glued at the factory to the rear end and yoke of the drive shaft. Heating the end caps with a torch will force the glue out of the side weep holes where it was injected. Clean well and install new U-Joint and expansion clips provided. Reinsall Drive Shaft to markings.
You have to replace the whole drive shaft.
how do you replace the drivers side drive shaft and cv joint?
Linkage is broken or loose - or trans pump shaft is broken ( big job)
It does not have a drive shaft as such. It has a transaxle which which converts the power of the engine to the wheels. The transaxle also serves as the transmission.
Remove the wiper arm from the shaft by pressing in the small tab under the arm, and lift up. Then remove the nut on the shaft. That will leave you with only one more nut to remove from inside the window. It's on a bracket attached to the motor.
not possible. the whole drive shaft needs replaced.
very carefully!
Tire imbalance, wheel bearing bad, drive shaft imbalance, bad u joint in that order.
