I did two of these jobs last month. The replacement shocks I got just bolted on very much like the originals on the top side and cliped on the bottom. Removeing the old one is a little tricky figering out how to flip the little spring clip up then pull it out then pop the shock off.Have somebody to hold the gate up for you while you work it is much safer than a prop rod.
First you need to remove the trim bezel around the handle on the outside of the tailgate. Then remove the three bolts on the inside of the tailgate, that hold the handle in place. Next remove the latching mechanism rods from the handle, and remove the handle from the tailgate.
Hold the tailgate open about half way, release both tailgate straps, lift up and out on passenger side of tailgate, slide tailgate to the right, done.
Remove the long access panel from the inside of the tailgate.Unhook the two metal rods from the handle on the inside of the tailgate.Remove the two bolts from the door handle located on the inside of the tailgate.
Simply remove the cables that support the tailgate. They just clip off. Support your tailgate so that you don't scratch the paint. Lift the tailgate towards vertical, lift and one side will now come off the hinge. Remove the tailgate from the other side by pulling horizontally. Reinstall oppposite to these directions
To open the tailgate you have to use the key in the tailgate lock. If it is like mine, it does not always release immediately and you just need to push on the tailgate while the key is turned. You should be able to hear the latch release and then you just lift the tailgate up. If the shock absorbers for it are worn out it will be a slow hard lift to get it to open completely. l
How do you replace the tailgate lock on a isuzu wizard 1999
open tailgate. unclip the cables that hold tailgate level they will unclip from the top anchor post without using any tools.then lift tailgate from left side so as tailgate hinge comes up from pivot point. then slide tailgate little to the left and you should have tailgate in your hands
The tailgate latch comes off with the cable. It is one piece.
Lift the tailgate. There are 2 screws that hold the plastic housing in place. Take out those screws, and lift the housing off. Then just turn the posts 1/4 turn to the left to get the bulb out.
The tailgate cables on the S10 may have to be drilled out and must be riveted in place. GM has a recall on these cables and will replace them, parts and labor for no charge at the dealership.

remove the panel from the gate (it may be difficult if the gate is still closed). there is a metal panel held w/ screws; remove that panel and the latch will be visible. pull both rods at the same time to unlatch the gate (careful, the space is small and the truck loves to pinch!).
On my 2002 avalanche, I was told to take the handle off and inside there are to blue or green clips with threaded rods in them. I just popped open the clips with a small screwdriver, then moved the rods out a few threads and reclip. IT WORKED GREAT MY TAILGATE WOULD POP OPEN WHEN I HIT A BUMP BUT NO MORE!!
When they are worn (have play).
Being an overhead cam engine, a Neon doesn't have push rods.
There's a couple different types of tailgates found on dump/tipper trucks. The most common type hinges from the top and latches on the bottom. The latches can be either manual release or air release (usually from a button inside the cab). When the dump body is tipped back, gravity causes the tailgate to open, and the commodity is also dumped out of the bed by the force of gravity. Another variation of this type of tailgate opens to the side. Some can even be converted to work either way. There's also the lift gate tailgate. At the top of the tailgate are two hydraulic arms which push out and cause the whole tailgate assembly to lift up. The vehicle operator can also opt not to use the lift gate feature, and it'll then operate in the same fashion as the first tailgate I described.

It can cost upwards of 200 dollars to replace VW tire rods as of 2014. The exact cost depends on the parts and the person replacing them.
It is really easy. First take off the tailgate and the glass lift hatch. Then you are done.
