How do you tighten the tilt steering on 1982 Chevy pickup?

There are 3 bolts under the steering wheel that sometimes work loose, usually because of people grabbing steering wheel to pull themselves into truck. You will have to rent or buy a steering wheel puller & re-tighten the bolts that are under it.I would reccommend cleaning them & using locktight brand thread lock.

How do you remove the steering wheel from a 1994 Firebird after removing the airbag?

Use a basic steering wheel puller. It should come with three different sets of bolts one will match up and then tighten the center bolt until steering wheel comes off.

The tilt steering on your 1989 camaro is loose the steering column is loose and im not sure how to tighten it?

You have to remove your steering wheel. and then all other covers related to stopping you from getting to the four bolts that keep the tilt tight or you could have a broken bolt. but first things first you have to get to the bolts if not broken all you have to do is tighten them and you will be ready to roll. (there are four bolts)

How do you tighten the tilt on a 1983 Chevy Blazer K5 steering column after the steering wheel and metal plate under it have been pulled?

Go to your local parts supplier and get an exploded picture of the steering column. Most will have this as a free service. The steering wheel has to come off, as well as some pieces to get to the bolts that hold it together. Tighten the bolts and it should be fine. This is a common problem and will probably take you about 1 - 1.5 hours to do depending on options vehicle has.

You have to remove the steering wheel ,lockplate, turn signal assembly and you will get to four bolts that are loose. Go to your local auto patrs store and tell them you need the special tool (lockplate removal tool and steering wheel puller)for GM steering colums.

What would make a steering wheel move around in a 89 Chevy silverado?

I take you truck has a tilt steering wheel in it. There is a u-joint in the steering shaft that has 4 bolts that hold in together, The bolts are coming out, and they need to be tighten back up with some lock tight put on the threads. You need to get someone that has fixed that problem before to fix yours. You have to remove steering wheel and alot of other small parts to get to all 4 bolts. If you have never done it , Then I would not try it yourself. I have fixed alot of them myself and it requires special tools to get it apart.

How do you tighten the steering column in a 1984 dodge pick-up?

I am not sure this is the trouble, if you remove the cover on the steering wheel there will be a large nut if this nut is tight the splines on the wheel could be bad, might be looking at replacing the column, or the steering wheel. I the nut is loose simple tighten and replace cover.

How do you tighten the wobbling steering wheel in a 1978 Chevy pu?

If it has tilt steering, you must pull steering wheel, plate, and lift up turn signal switch to access three torx screws. Remove one at a time, apply locktite and tighten. Reverse procedure. If it is not a tilt wheel, then you may have a worn bearing or a loose center steering wheel nut. Must inspect.

Your 1989 Pontiac trans am has tilt steering wheel and you used it most often now it's wobble how do you fix it thank you?

There are four bolts inside the column that have probably come loose and backed out. You must pull the steering wheel, turn signal assmebly etc until you get down to those bolts. Tighten them up, put it all back together and you should be good to go.
