The Nation of Islam is not mainstream Islam nor are the beliefs the same, The Nation of Islam was originated in the USA in the early 20th Century. Although the name suggests that it is connected to Islam, it has no connection at all to Islam and shouldn't be looked at as a sect of Islam.
The Nation of Islam is a religious group founded in Detroit, Michigan, United States by Wallace Fard Muhammad in July 1930 with the self-proclaimed goal of resurrecting the spiritual, mental, social, and economic condition of the black men and women of America.
It was a racist movement and thus most of its followers left NOI and entered into mainstream Islam. For example Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali.
