one religious belief in India is budhisim and i don't think i spelled it right but that's a religious belief

The three most ancient religions native to India are Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. Today the primary religion of India is Hinduism. Jainism remains a minority religion but it has been very influential (for example, Mahatma Gandhi was influenced by the Jain teaching of nonviolence). Although Buddhism originated in India, it now is practiced mainly outside of India, in other parts of Asia and the world. Islam entered India in the 12th century and is now the most widely practiced Indian religion after Hinduism. Christianity is also widely practiced in India, especially Catholicism. Thomas the Apostle is said to have first brought Christianity to India in ancient times. (Some non-Christians believe that Jesus survived the Crucifixion and traveled to India; Muslims believe the tomb of Jesus is in Kashmir.) Sikhism was founded in India in the 15th century by Guru Nanak, who was born a Hindu; Sikhism abolished some features of Hinduism, such as the Caste System.
A prominent minority community of India follows Zoroastrianism, the original Persian religion before the Muslims invaded Iran and most of the Zoroastrians fled the country; in India, members of the Zoroastrian community are called Parsis or Iranis. (Although the Parsi community is relatively small, several world-famous people have been Parsis, including the rock singer Freddie Mercury and the conductor Zubin Mehta.) There is also a native Jewish minority in India.
History presents no clear facts about the religion of people of Indus valley civilization. They might have been nature worshipers, or perhaps followed some Pre-Aryan or Pre-Vedic religion, most probably Jainism (facts relating to Jainism are supported by some of their practices and the seals that have been found there). Some Indus seals have figures that resemble Shiva and Skanda, two Hindu deities, however.
The Religion in India has been fluid and has kept changing in very complex manner. There has been numerous philosophies at present.
Some of the symbols/deity of modern Hinduism (e.g Shiva and Mother Goddess) are said to be derived from Indus valley civilization.
Though its highly unlikely that the religion practiced then had any similarities with current major sects.
