How many miles from Alabama to Alaska?

Growing up we drove from Eau Claire to Fairbanks two or three times every year. Total DRIVE TIME is about 60 hours. Add on your hotel stays, repairs or visits. The 60 hours does include getting gas, stopping for a quick meal and such.

We usually drove around the clock - not something I'd do again.

Also, this was in the day of 55 mph speed limit and we would go into Canada because the speed limit there used to be higher than the U.S. Driving it today I would go across to Missoula, Montana and then up through Calgary, Edmonton and into Alaska. Probably shave 5 to 10 hours off of the entire trip.

Where is the Bama Breeze Bar?

The Song Bama Breeze is written about a Bar that is located on the Florida and Alabama State line that goes by the name Flora Bama. In 2004, Hurricane Ivan destroyed the landmark that is known to many. The bar has been rebuilt since 2004 and is better than ever but we still miss the old Flora Bama!

The Bama Breeze is a bar that is located at the Homeport Marina (off of Interstate 155) in Gulf Shores Alabama. It is part of Lulu's (Jimmy Buffet's sister) restaurant.

Florabama is still located at the Florida and Alabama state line in the same spot it was located before the storm.

Side note: Jimmy Buffett's "Bama Breeze" video was shot at the remnants of the Firedog Saloon in Bay St. Louis, MS. It was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005.

ACTUALLY: Jimmy's sister's name is Lucy, her restaurant is Lulu's. The Bama Breeze wasn't built until after Katrina so the song couldn't be about that bar at Lulu's. Homeport Marina is located at the intersection of HWY 59 and the inter-coastal waterway. It is not located off of interstate 155 it is at the 155 marker on the inter-coastal waterway.
