There are countless Albanian heroes. The most outstanding one, however, is Gjergj Kastrioti. He was a 15-th century Albanian Prince, who was captured and forced to join the Ottoman army in Istambul. Because of his excellence in military performance the Sultan decorated him with the title "Iskander" and latter a second tittle "Bey". Against the will of the Sultan, Gjergj returned to Albania to become the leader of the Albanians and defeated the Ottoman invasion for 25 years. Today, we recognize Gjergj Kastriot SkenderBeu as the Albanian national hero.
