Unfortunately unless you are famous yourself or have a reason to speak to them chances are you won't get a chance or they won't be interested in getting to know you - they have been conditioned at this point to only trust certain individuals whether your trustworthy or not.

If you are comfortable enough to hang around them slowly try to integrate yourself into conversations. I realize it sounds easier said then done as you are shy but if they are hanging around you they seem to enjoy your company and like being around you - let your guard down slowly, you have nothing to lose.

As a male in a 14 month relationship, I'd suggest somthing small. Do not go overboard as you dont know how long the realtionship will last. Perhaps, a 20$ giftcard to a restauraunt he frequently visits or has wanted to go to, or a gift card for the movie theatres. Or a little larger, like a bottle of cologne, or an engraved nametag with your pictures on it.

Well I can say that this happened to me not too long ago. I am a 24 year old male who fell in love with my best friend who is also a male. It didn't happen at first but overtime I really developed feelings towards him. I always wanted to tell him but never found the chance. Until one day that is. After 4 years of thinking and wondering if it would ever be, I got up the courage and called him late one night and told him flat out. I was in tears and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I was scared to loose him as my best friend and didn't know how he would react. Well he simply told me that he was flattered but he likes women and that this won't change anything. It is kind of ironic because it didn't change at all on his part but instead I am the one who feels weird now. Even when he calls or txts me, I sometimes just hit ignore.
