I've got a tank of my own and all my fish get on well.
In my tank I've got:
1 Leopard danio
1 Siamese fighter(male)
2 Platies
2 Sword tails
1 Polkadot loach
3 Cherry barbs

Is my goldfish dying if it's lays on the bottom and only swims to the top to eat?
No your Goldfish is not dying because when it lays on the bottom it might want some rest or just trying to sleep, and maybe its just tired but i don't think its dying, it will soon get better, trust me look after it like me because if you do it may live for a year, mine did for more than one years...but now its dead.
Can you put sucker fishes with bettas?
Provided the tank is large enough you can put almost any fish with a Male Betta. They will only fight another male of the same species. They do not fight with other species at all. 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. That is the limiting factor. 1 Betta should be housed in a minimum of 3 gallons of water.
Do you have to flush your fish when they die?
Flushing your fish down the toilet is not only cruel and inhumane, but it is also illegal. Flushed fish can survive for hours or even days exposed to horrific conditions and toxic water quality. Flushing sick fish can also contaminate your local water shed with aquatic diseases. This method is never appropriate.

Will an injured goldfish live?

If you follow the above rules and keep the fishes water at around 65F it may survive. If you fail to follow them I can guarantee that your fish will not survive for long.

If you are talking about a goldfish then the usual life span if it dies of old age of course, is about twenty to thirty years, occasionally forty. If you want to know about a Betta fish then it usually lives about ten to twenty years. Any other tropical or usually domestic fish then I'm not quite sure about but those are the most popular breeds of fish as far as I know and that is what I am sure of.
Why do some goldfish change color?
Goldfish change color for one of two reasons. The first is a lack of sunlight, which ends up retarding the pigmentation cells in the fish's scales that are responsible for color. This causes a fish to become lighter or white in color. The second reason is for a darkening in scale color. This is because due to irritation of the skin the fish's body releases a chemical called leukine which stimulates color pigmentation cells. Especially melanophores (black pigmentation cells) thus causing the fish to have abnormally high amount of black pigmentation.

It's all about where the tank is. For example, if you put a goldfish in its tank in a room with no light, it would turn white.
If your fish has changed colour, it's simply getting used to the light change from the shop/supplier to your home.
Why is your goldfish floating diagonally?
The fish is so ill it is dying but hasn't got there yet. Try changing its water a few times but make sure the temperature of the new water is the same as the old water. You just may save its life. If you do save it, remember to change its water regularly and never let food go rotten in the tank.

Goldfish can get VERY big. Actually, they naturally never stop growing. They can even get up to 3 feet. You may find this hard to believe, but this is because most goldfish's growths are stunted because of small tanks. Sometimes they adapt to the tank size and only grow if put in a bigger tank but this is rare. If a goldfish is given a healthy, natural life, they will continue to live and grow. The person above me is very right. Goldfish usually don't reach their full length because they die (cuz of small tanks, over feeding, and any other abuse) before they can. They never stop growing but their growing starts to slow down after a while. That's why it's 20 gallons for one goldfish and another 10 gallons for additional goldfish (3 large fancy goldfish in a 50 gal).
The two people above me are partially right. There is no record of any goldfish reaching 3 feet, only koi can attain a length that big. Goldfish are also capable of growing to their adult size (12 - 14 inches) in a 10 gallon tank as long as you keep the tank clean, warm and you put the goldfish on a varied diet. Although, since goldfish can grow big and produce a lot of waste, it is best that you move them to a bigger tank once they grow-out their old one.
