Goldfish can get VERY big. Actually, they naturally never stop growing. They can even get up to 3 feet. You may find this hard to believe, but this is because most goldfish's growths are stunted because of small tanks. Sometimes they adapt to the tank size and only grow if put in a bigger tank but this is rare. If a goldfish is given a healthy, natural life, they will continue to live and grow. The record for oldest fish is about 49 years.
The person above me is very right. Goldfish usually don't reach their full length because they die (cuz of small tanks, over feeding, and any other abuse) before they can. They never stop growing but their growing starts to slow down after a while. That's why it's 20 gallons for one goldfish and another 10 gallons for additional goldfish (3 large fancy goldfish in a 50 gal).
The two people above me are partially right. There is no record of any goldfish reaching 3 feet, only koi can attain a length that big. Goldfish are also capable of growing to their adult size (12 - 14 inches) in a 10 gallon tank as long as you keep the tank clean, warm and you put the goldfish on a varied diet. Although, since goldfish can grow big and produce a lot of waste, it is best that you move them to a bigger tank once they grow-out their old one.
According to experts, an ordinary or common goldfish will grow up to 26 inches while koi carps will grow and weigh up to 90 lbs.
REALLY REALLY BIG, of course depending on the tank size, if put in a big tank they can reach the size of a koi
They can live to the age of 45 if in clean conditions. They can get as large as 10'', but if they have descendants of a large fish such as a koi it can grow as large as a koi. The goldfish also grows with the tank as you give it bigger ones. I have a comet goldfish who is half that has lots of koi in him and a little bit of goldfish,he is 2 years old.
It will grow to the size of the tank you might have you see the big gold fish in the shop what r about 5-7 ich long

I don't know if goldfish (or any species of fish) actually feals fear as we do (as in anticipation) but they certainly do have an immediate response to any kind of threat. They hide and know how to take cover from above attack from birds etc they also know when and how to hide in plants, branches, holes etc when being hunted by predatory fish too. So to answer your question. I would say goldfish are afraid of attack both from the air and in the water by any kind of predator that would like to eat them.
Can a goldfish live in the same tank as a koi fish?
No, a Koi is a carp. It comes from the Japanese word Nishikigoi which literally means 'coloured carp'.

White particles on fishes' fins indicate fungal growth. It should be treated with fish medicines immediately or it may spread.
How do you keep the temperature of tropical fish water?
You should have a thermostatically controlled aquarium heater, and a good thermometer to monitor the temperature.
Although they are sold, don't use the type of thermometer that you stick to the glass; that doesn't give you an accurate temperature. Use one that goes in the tank itself.
For tropical fish, I have had the best success with the temperature about 75-78 degrees F.

Should a Betta fish be going up to the top of the fish bowl to get air?
Yes, bettas should go to the surface for air. They are air breathers. They have an organ, the lybrinth, that is very lung like. They breath in air from the surface. Their gills do not work like other fish. If they can not get to the surface for air, they die. Of corse yes their gills are different from other fish so that is why a Betta fish has to be going up to the surface to get air or else they die.
Yes, like all animals, goldfish need oxygen. They get it through their gills from the water they swim in .
Air should be provided to an aquarium via a small pump. This helps to remove gasses from the water that might build up and provides oxygen that will dissolve into the water. It also helps keep the tank clean.

Why does my goldfish have red bumps on its body?
This is probably just a natural color change. This is common in goldfish. If you notice any strange behavior, take it to the vet.
Do goldfish prefer to be alone or with another goldfish?
I always think one looks lonely. If you have two, and are lucky your goldfish might breed Babies! Anyway a collection is much better than two because they might breed more!
Neko means "cat" in Japanese... the word is rooted in Japanese history, culture, language, manga and anime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMvGj2R_dQI
Over the past decade, the use of this word has been evolving and adapting to imply a global "catgirl" phenomenon -- namely humans "dressing up cat" in real life. Evidence of this can be found in Japanese cosplay http://www.jbox.com/PRODUCT/NET067, European catgirl forums such as http://www.catgirls.org.uk/ and virtual online communities as depicted on the blog Virtual Neko in Second Life: http://virtualneko.com
Related words:
Bakeneko: a character from historical folklore, a "ghost cat" with supernatural abilities
Nekomimi: the Japanese term for catgirls, literally meaning "cat ears." A catgirl is a person who dresses up (in real life, or in online virtual communities) with ears, a tail, and sometimes additional accoutrements such as paw gloves and boots.
Nekomusume: this sometimes also applies to catgirls (though less often), and literally means "cat daughter."

Can Daphnia and Goldfish live together?
Yes. Aslong as the gold fish (coldwater fish) and the pleco (warm water fish) do not go into one extreme or the other on the temperature scale. Your plecostomus will look like it is eating your goldfish if it doesn't get enough food.
What is the similarities between a lizards and a goldfish?
Goldfish are very gentle and low mantinance pets. They get along with each other fine and are usually not the fish that will fight. (This does make them an easy target, only place goldfish with goldfish)
There is a large variety of goldfish to choose from-fancy, black colored ones, large eyed ones. However, the "fancier" the fish, the more the life span decreases and mantinance increases.
To some it all up, goldfish are excellent first time pets and are great for someone of any age!
Can you fix a broken goldfish tail?
No, it will make due with what is left.
Umm I disagree Most fish i have observed had no trouble regrowing fins when damaged or taken off completely. In good conditions they shouldn't have this problem but if it's a disease or environmental problem then it won't grow back until conditions are repaired and the other fins may fall victim to the same fate. Occasionally the fin won't grow back for unknown reasons but generally the fish usually do okay with a missing fin as long as it's in a goldfish only tank. Check for fin rot and keep that tank as clean as possible for a while to give the best chance at regrowth.

What types of fish do goldfish get along with?
Goldfish can only live with other goldfish. I know this is a rather sad, depressing thing, but I will remind you that there are lots of other goldfish that are pretty and there's a wide variety of them. You may notice that goldfish tanks are usually a bit bare, because only goldfish can live there. Tropical fish don't simply work out with goldfish, because of the temperature and really because they aren't supposed to live with each other in the wild anyway.
Though it's not a fish, if you really want to put some other sea creatures in your tank, I suggest to put sea snails. It's really the only other sea creature you can put in with goldfish, in my opinion. But be careful, snails can be a bit dirty!
