Your goldfish has a cloudy eye what should you do?
Cloudy eyes on any kind of fish are warning signs that all is not well in the fishes environment. The cloudiness is usually caused by a form of fungus. This usually happens to fish when their water is foul or going bad. I would advise a very large water change say 70% followed immediately by another water change the of the same volume. Then I would clean out the filter and replace or clean the filter medium. Then I would add 1 teaspoonfull of none iodised (cooking) salt per gallon of water to the aquarium. Then no water changes for about 10 days. This salt concentration should clean up the fungal infection and not damage the fish or plants. The salt concentration will steadilly be reduced as normal 50% weekly water changes are recommenced.
I guess that would depend on your definition of smart. :) Studies have shown that goldfish and can retain information for up to 3 months (not 30 seconds). Other studies have detailed how goldfish are able to use visual landmarks and cues to navigate mazes, and even remember how to get through those mazes two weeks later. Researchers even reversed, removed and altered the visual cues, with little impact to the fish's performance. There's ample evidence that goldfish are capable of learning tasks and finding multiple ways to achieve one goal. The studies are interesting. :)
What type of fish get along with bettas?

Why do fish need oxygen to survive?
Fish extract oxygen from water using gills, but gills cannot extract oxygen from air.
A few species of fish (e.g. lungfish, snakehead) have some ability to extract oxygen from air (e.g. lungfish use a modified swim bladder like a lung) and can survive short trips across dry land from one shallow pool to another.
Your goldfish won't move and it won't go to the surface to eat?
If you can see that the fishes gills are still opening and closing, the fish is still breathing. The most important thing is to change its water ASAP. It may still die if you do change its water from the damage done to its gills by ammonia. The commonest thing that kills fish in captivity is the Ammonia in the water that is produced by the fish living and breathing in the water. That is why fish keepers have a basic set of minimum conditions. They are :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water, a cycled filter to remove the ammonia produced by aquatic life, and a minimum of 50% water changed weekly to remove the nitrate produced in the filter.

What does it mean if your pet fish won't move from the top of its fish tank?
If the fish is still alive, it means that you have very poor water quality and need to change it immediately.
You should be changing at least 50% of the water in a properly stocked tank that is 10 gallons or bigger, and 75% to 100% of the water if you are using under 10 gallons every single week.
What are the different kinds of goldfish?
Cross-breeding can produce nice fry, but in many cases unless you are a breeder, the majority of the fry may not survive due to the amount of cross-breeding that has occurred already to get many of the breeds we see these days.
Can a fish die if it has white spots?
a fish with white spotts that are all over the body and are not supposed to be there it usually means that the fish has ich and verry contagous illnes that occures in aquarium fish, i recomend that if you have any other fish in that tank that does not have these spots that you take them out and get medication for the infected fish. ( if not treated quickly the fish might die.)
To be honest it's not worth removing the fish go to your local aquarium store and ask for the best remedy for Ich aka Whitespot, it is a nasty disease but also easily treated, one of the best treatments i have found is waterlife's Protozin, however this can be hard on certain types of fish such as loaches if you have fish like this i recommend only a half does of that particualr medication however there are several different ones available
It means that the water isn't aerated well enough and the fish is trying to get more oxygen by sucking air down.
(edit)
This can also mean that the goldfish is begging for food. This is a learned bahaviour, and is more likely if you hand-feed your fish. Be very careful not to over-feed your goldfish.
How long can a goldfish go without food?
7 to 10 days is the norm before they start to cannibalize
About 4 days, but i do not recommend it! If you are going to be away for a while you can buy feeding blocks that slowly release food over a number of days, if you plan on being away a lot then you can buy an electronic feeder that will feed your fish every 12 hours, you will need to fill it up every month or so. Be sure to read the instructions.
How long are rabbits memory spans?
A budgies memory span is very long like other birds. See the Related Links for a video of how a budgie has been trained to do tricks. He has remembered how to do these tricks on cue for a while after that, showing that they are capable of remembering things quite well
Can angelfish and goldfish be kept together?
Angel fish (Pterophylum scalare) are one of the most tropical fish coming from the Amazon. Goldfish (Carassius auratus) are cold water fish. They both need totally different condtions and water qualities. So the answer is they could live together provided the water is kept warm and pure enough for the Angelfish but they will not do well.
No i wouldn't recommend it.... goldfishes live in cold waters and angel fish live in warm water so that wouldn't really be a good match up
Why do goldfish die at the bottom of the tank?
The reputation of goldfish dying quickly is often due to poor care. The lifespan of goldfish in captivity can extend beyond 10 years.
Where can you buy goldfish curry sauce in Germany?

How much food does a goldfish eat?
A goldfish will only eat as much as it needs. It will stop eating when it has had enough. It is impossible to overfeed goldfish. You should give a goldfish small amounts of food for up to 15 minutes. What it does not eat in those 15 minutes must be syphoned out. Food must never be left in the tank because it will poison the water and kill the fish.
Goldfish enjoy other goldfish. They also like to play behind plants and nibble on real ones. They like moving water and playing with gravel- you can have up to 4 fish in a ten gallon tank ( this is my experience). You can teach them to do things, but I am not sure how.
What are good goldfish tankmates?
Goldfish should live with goldfish with the exception of weather (dojo) loaches, bristlenose plecos, or apple/mystery snails.
Will a grey goldfish eventually turn orange?

What make a goldfish a good pet?

Does a goldfish have live fish birth?
Goldfish are egg-spawners. If you want to breed them, you need: * two aquariums--a 20-gallon spawning tank, and a 10-gallon grow-out tank. Neither one should have gravel or a filter in it. * a male and a female goldfish, both at least three years old * baby goldfish food Put about three inches of water in the grow-out tank. Put the adult goldfish in the spawning tank. When the goldfish are ready to spawn, the male will chase the female all over the tank. When she gets tired enough, she will scatter eggs all over the tank, and the male will spray his milt all over the tank. The milt will turn the water cloudy. Now for the fun part: you have to wait until the water clears, then scoop up all the eggs and put them in the other tank. Goldfish will eat their own eggs. Then cover the other tank, wait until they hatch, and start feeding the little fish.
Black Algae in a fish tank isn't actually algae at all. It is bacteria protein called cyanobacteria. If your asking how to rid your tank of this, the first thing you'll want to do is test your water for nitrates and phosphates. Generally this is a major factor in the growth of the bacteria. Scrub the glass, clean the decor, and stir the gravel. Remove as much as possible with a net. Next perform a 25-30% water change. This will help reduce the levels of nitrates and phosphates. Also, since this type of bacteria has to photosynthesize reducing the amount of time the light is on will be greatly beneficial.
How do know of your goldfish is making eggs?
If your goldfish is female and full of eggs, she may release them in the tank. If there is no male in the tank with her, she may very well simply reabsorb the eggs without ever releasing them at all.
