When a male guppy pokes on female guppies stomach does that make the female pregnant?
Guppies and Platys are live bearers and most reproduce by an elongated anal fin called a gonopodium that males use to deposit sperm to females. The female can then use the males sperm for nearly 3 months observed by some fish caretakers. She will bear the babies inside her until they are born swimming freely, but very small. If your female has been around any males, chances are she is pregnant.
yes they can but i wouldn't try as the babies are sterile and have many problems and almost always end up dieing
You have said she has a gravid spot (not gravel). That indicates that she is gravid (pregnant). She would not have that spot is she was not gravid. Be patient. Provided she is in suitable conditions she will have her youngsters eventually.
Can you breed 1 male and 1 female guppy in a breeder tank and then take the male out?
yes it would be best to take the male out because sometimes when your not looking he can eat them.
How big is a guppies tummy when it is ready to give birth?
BIG!!! it will look like its about to explode
Your flame tail guppy has small white spots all over him is it because of old age?
I would say that your guppy has white spot, use interpet no.7 anti white spot and he will be cured!
Actually the guppies probable aren't stressing him out unless you can physically see it. Most likely your water is way off balance! That will stress him out enough to do that. But if the guppies are stressing him out, then he will lose his colors to.
Neon Tetras lay eggs. The female's belly should be obviously larger than the male's and should spawn in a few days. Some tetras also can get diseases that might make them look larger. What I do with my pregnant female guppies is I put them in a plastic container with holes poked in the sides (so water can be exchanged but fish including fry can't swim in or out) and clip it to the side of the tank (I use a magnet glass cleaner) at the top so the fish wont swim over the lip of the container. I hope this helps!
You will notice that the male guppy has a long pointed anal fin. They use this to transfer sperm to the female guppy via the gonopore (hence the constant chasing). The dark spot on the female is called the gravid spot, it is the eyes of developing fry. Females have the ability to carry viable sperm for up to six months and the only chance a male has of continuing his DNA is to catch a female within a day of her giving birth.
I heard that guppies were a tropical fish. How did a ton of them get into my pond?
They are tropical fish. There are also wild guppies. If you have a stream or something running into your pond that is probably why. Or someone could have put them there and then they reproduced.
How many guppies a week do crayfish eat?
Without much more information the question can not be answered accurately. Crayfish are scavengers and guppies are not their natural prey. If the crayfish is small enough and your guppies don't have long flowing fins then the guppies may well be too fast for the crayfish to catch. So the answer then would be none. Are you feeding the crays dead guppies? If so I would add one and see how long it takes the crayfish to eat it. Then I would add more and more dead guppies one at a time as the crayfish devours them. As the crayfish grows so it will eat more.
Can guppies and mollies survive in a fishbowl?
Guppies and mollies are tropical fish, and they require warm temperatures. The fishbowl will require a heater. Also, these fish are sensitive to drastic changes in the quality of their water, therefore, a filtration and aeration system will be necessary.
Perhaps a better fish for a fishbowl would be a Siamese Fighting fish (Betta Splendens). With a little floating plant in the bowl and a cover, Bettas do very well. Change the water at least weekly. Bettas come in a variety of colors. Unfortunately, only one Betta can be placed in the fishbowl because they will fight.
Almost all tropical fish retailers carry Bettas, and they can tell you how to feed and care for them.

What are the steps to breed guppie fish and what do you need?
If you wish to do it properly, the main things are to have sufficient water /tank space available to rear the fry and also to have a special "line" or "type" of guppy that you wish to breed. Anyone can get a heap of mixed breed gravid female guppys and let them have thousands of babies. These would only be sold very cheaply as "feeder fish".
. The basic rules for keeping fish healthy are. 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water (a Guppy is at least a 1.5 inch fish) Every tank must have a permanently running cycled filter. Every tank needs at least 50% of its water replaced every week. Baby fish should either have a constant supply of food or they should be fed every 3 to 4 hours in order to keep them growing rapidly.
Can yellow bellied turtles go in an tank of guppies?
They certainly can but it should never be done. Turtles will completely foul/poison the water for any kind of fish. A "Vivarium" which is part water and part land, with a warm spot for sun baking is what Turtles require. An "Aquarium" is a place where fish are kept. It is completely filled with water, has a heater if it contains tropical fish like Guppies, a fully cycled filter and regular weekly water changes of at least 50%.
Is my Guppy pregnant It has a light gravid spot it's stomach is medieum sized.?
If your female guppy has been in a tank/container with a male since it reached maturity it will be gravid (pregnant). Give it time. The fry will come eventually
The pregnant guppy has a cave and a plastic plant for hiding is it enough?
Not really. Live plants do some good to the water, but plastic ones do nothing. Guppies do not need or want artificial caves etc. Just follow the rules All species of fish (including guppies) must have their water looked after properly if they are to survive. The basic rules of successfull fishkeeping are. :- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water.( a guppy is a 1.5 to 2 inch fish, so it needs at least 2 gallons of water) :- Every tank must have a permanently running 'cycled' filter. :- Every tank must have at least 50% of its water replaced every week.
Members of Poecillidae, mollies included, only eat each other if the others are babies, or dead. But most likely, he jumped out.
You should have a birthing container that allows the babies to drift down into a lower compartment so the mother does not eat them. They are inexpensive and you can get them at any pet store. You should also ask about fish food for the new guppies.
