Interstate Highway on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu?

While they are NOT "true" interstate highways- since they do not go to other states- there are 3 highways on Oahu that were built to the design standards of Interstates, and funded by the Interstate Highway program. They are known simply as H1, H2, and H3. PS- the newest, H3, runs from Kaneohe to Pearl Harbor- during a rainstorm, there are 23 waterfalls that can be seen from the highway- Beautiful!

When installing a new roof in Delaware is it imperative to add a ridge vent. what are the pros and cons?

ventilation in your attic is very important. If you don't use ridge vent, you should use some type of roof vent placed close to the peak. I live in Minnesota which has a long heating season. You can never totally insulate your ceiling to allow no heat loss. This escaping heat ( however small it may be) can cause ice damming on your roof which may lead to leaks. Also, the warmer air allows for condensation to form in your rafters or trusses which may lead to a mold problem.

Furthermore, I'm sure you're aware that heat rises. In the summertime when the ambient temperature and heat from the sun beat on your roof, without ventilation, there is nowhere for this heat to escape. This added heat can "bake" your shingles, causing them to become brittle and suck the life out of them. I have " opened " a non-ventilated roof near the peak in July. It was like opening an oven door. As a former contractor, I can honestly say that I HATE roofing and any steps I could take to avoid re-roofing my home any sooner than neccissary, would surely grab my attention. In my opinion, adequate roof ventilation is one of these steps. I also think ridge vent Is alot more appealing to the eye. (curb appeal)

In the TV show, Hawaii 5-0 is an elite group of officers who make up the Hawaii State Police. It does not exist in reality. Hawaii has a State Sheriff Department which is responsible for state-wide responsibilities. Even with the communication and services of an "elite" computer connection, each island has its own police force which makes it easier to handle business as travel between the islands is by plane.

The word does comes from Arabic. It means like "land of pearls".

Honolulu can be decomposed as "hono" + "lulu"

In Arabic the word for "here" is "huna". The word for pearls in Arabic is "lulu". As we know, one of the most famous places in Hawaii is Pearl Harbor. Historically, Hawaii was known as the Muslim Sandwich Islands before World War II. Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick has done enormous research on this topic.

According to Wikipedia, " In the Hawaiian language, Honolulu means "sheltered bay" or "place of shelter"."

Hawaiian language has an origin different from that of Arabic.

Cost of one week in Hawaii?

Depends on the level of hotel, places you eat, and kinds of attractions you want to go to. It also depends on the time of year. Prices especially for hotels can double during peak seasons. Currently, with the world economy being relatively weak, there are more bargains. So do you want to eat at Spago, or Denny's. Do you want to play golf at a world-class course, or just lounge on the beach? During off season, and if you're willing to accept an "ok" hotel that is NOT on a beach, you can pay as little as $150/night including local taxes. Otherwise figure everything else at about 20% more than what you pay for at home, and you should not be far off. But if you add any attractions, those can be a few dollars to rent a boogie board to hundreds to take a short helicopter trip around. And if we're talking Oahu, there's the "PCC" or Polynesian Cultural Center on the north shore, which most everyone seems to want to attend -- it's like the ultimate luau in that you can eat in their cafeteria dining room and then go to an "outdoor" theater for an incredible stage show of Polynesian song and dance, and the last time I checked you could blow a couple hundred per person for the "full boat" including a souvenir. Renting a car there you can just about double costs at home because other than size of vehicle, there are heavy local fees and taxes, and gas varies but was just under $4 per gallon at the new year. So if you want the off-the beach hotel, 2 "modest" meals a day, a rental car for a day or two, and a few activities, you're easily spending $3,000 - $3,500 (for two people). But the problem is, you see, you're in Hawaii, and the temptation is to say, hey, we're here, and we might not get back for a long time, so you might just want to plan on another $500 in splurge money. What you don't spend there you can buy everyone macadamia nut candies at the airport on the way home or put back in the bank.
