Maybe on one of those bidding websites, where each time somebody bids, the price goes up by a penny or nickel or something. I will not mention any names, but I'll tell you kind-of how it works. While both of those have certain models that would determine very important features. I looked at the lowest end model for each and HP was better. So assuming that applies for each price group, I'd go with HP.

if your laptop has the hp quickweb function then try booting it through that i think that it is the f5 button to launch it when your computer is shut down. let me know if this works. :)

well there are a few options.. one is get the key off the keyboard and check the part underneath to make sure it is ok and another is since laptops have usb ports use a regular keyboard or even buy this roll up rubber keyboard i saw at frys

you just need to know how to get drivers for your wireless receiver unless theyr already installed. if they are installed there is something at the bottom right of the taskbar that you can open "wireless networks" connect anyway when you try connecting

If they both have the same Intel then I think that you should get the second laptop, th Intel with a laptop can effect the speed greatly, the more the cores in a laptop the better and faster your laptop will be.

Try pressing "Fn+F8", if that doesn't work then try booting it with the Windows Setup CD in the drive. If nothing works then try pressing keys like "F2" or "F8" or "Del". If that doesn't work then I'm sorry, I can't help you.

I missed out the most obvious solution of all- it could just be the screen, so try attaching an external monitor to see if that works.
