Hey, this is my first time saying anything on here, but your question peaked my interest. My husband is 31 and I am 20. We got married when I was 18. I know pretty crazy... but it was the best thing either one of us did. I have connected with him more than anyone, and he feels the same about me. He was married once before and it didn't work out, they did not have children. So my husband is ready for a family and I am going to make him wait one more year. I finished college early and am now working in accounting. We bought a house and are a very happy and successful couple. I could not imagine my life without him. I don't believe in soul mates... but if I did, he would be it.
Don't let age scare you. If it doesn't work out for some other reason, then so be it. But in my personal experiences, age doesn't matter. I don't even think about it anymore, in fact when I do tell people I am proud to say it. To say, "ya 11 years, and more compatible than any married couple I have met!"
Oh... FYI we have been married for 2.5 years and love each other as much as when we started dating.

I'm so happy to read these other posts! I'm 19 and my boyfriend is 31. We met each other while I was working for him. It was so hard to tell my parents, but we knew it was the right thing to do. He had been in many relationships before, but none with a girl my age. I had been in an emotionally abusive relationship before him, and he had faced a similar predicament with his second wife. I've had people say we are disgusting and we've even had people glare at us in the mall because I do look younger than 19. I don't want people to think we're promoting age gap dating at all. There are some exceptions to the general rule that you date your own age. We are so happy we found each other and there are times where we do realize it would be easier for other people to accept us if we were the same age. We have no problems otherwise, it's just outside influence.
If you love and trust this person, just go for it! There's no reason why you can't just try it out. I learned from being in an abusive relationship before that I have to be happy for MYSELF and no one else. If you feel like the relationship's not right, you can't change it! Move on!
Also be aware that both of your families will have a HUGE role in your relationship. We've had people say they're so happy for us and we've had people say they don't understand it and it makes them uncomfortable. When it feels right, let everyone know in the way you feel is the best.
