Names of bushy tailed rodents?
Tamarins are small monkeys with bushy tails. They are typically found in the jungles of South America, and they live on a diet of bugs and fruit.
The term, mice, is the plural form of mouse. The word, mouse, is derived from the original Sanskrit word, mus, which is still used today in classification. It meant thief or robber: a most fitting name for these tiny creatures.
How do chinchillas react to traveling?
Chinchilla's don't really like to travel. They might freak out a bit from noise and shifts, but they should be fine. I don't recommend moving them around from place to place, but if you need to, select a small transportation cage. Not very small though, these particular rodents love to move around.
What does it mean wen a guinea pig is limping?
If your guinea pig is old, it may be from old age, just like elderly people limp and lean over. your guinea pig may have arthritis and may have severe pain in its leg. You may have to get the leg checked for any muscle sprain or break in the bone.
Why did your chinchilla quit eating?
Could be many reasons;
1) The chinchilla has a tooth problem which is causing eating to be painful commonly with its cheek teeth that you can't see without an x-ray- take the chinchilla to the vets.
2) Your chinchilla is very pregnant and about to have babies, it will start eating very soon or if you temp it with a rasin.
3)Your chinchilla has problem with it's intestines and needs to see a vet.
Other reasons also exist but generally a chinchilla that doesn't eat for a few days needs to see the vet. Their are lots of microorganisms that live in a chinchillas gut and the complex ballance may be lost if the chinchilla doesn't keep eating.
Can a ginni-pig breed with a rat?
Technically yes, breeding the two together however poses serious harm to both the guinea pig and the rat and is in fact against the law in some states.
Do siblings guinea pigs eat each other?
In the wild, guinea pigs do kill other guinea pigs. The reason is usually because two males are arguing over a female. The males both want the female so they have a fight to the death. The winner (the one that is alive in the end) gets the female. This could happen in your home if you have males and females in the same cage. The chances of that are very, very small. Males also just fight for dominance. My two males often fight when i put them together, but when in separate cages they talk to each other and act as best friends. If you wish to put two males together, purchase them when they are both young and emidately join them in a single cage. You can also buy two males that were in the same cage at the place you purchased them from. So that sums up that guinea pigs do kill their own kind, but usually the males are the ones killing (and dont forget this is rare at your home and can be very easily be avoided).
What type of small rodent leaves poop that is tiny teardrop shaped and light brown in color?
A mouse and/or rat.
Can you put 1 boy guinea pig with a girl one?
There is no limit, assuming you have a big enough cage, to how many guinea pigs of different sexes and/or sizes you can physically put together. I am not sure if you will get baby guinea pigs out of it though.
What does a star nosed mole look like?

Armadillos are members of the order Cingulata, which is part of the suborder, Xenarthra. Other orders apart of the Xenarthrans are Pilosa and Vermilingua. Animals that belong to the order Pilosa are the Three and Two toed Sloth. Animals that belong to the order Vermilingua are Anteaters.
Armadillos also fall under the subclass Theria, which includes Marsupials, so they are also related to Kangaroos and Opossum. The subclass Theria falls under the class Mammalia, which included every variety of mammal on the earth from naked mole rats to whales. So armadillos are even indirectly related to us humans.
Animals that have large front teeth?
why do chipmunks have large front teeth
A beaver also has large front teeth and so does a walrus. :)
How long is a chipmunks memory?
obviously not too long as our Hamster, Sandy, goes into his "motel" every few seconds as if it was a new discovery every time!
I've conducted an experiment for my hamster Fran, who I tested once in the evening and once in the morning for 15 days straight, and rewarded her every time. She caught on almost immediately, and instead of taking a few minutes, she would take less than 20 seconds to complete the task. Even if i accidentally skipped one evening, she could still do the task the next morning, so I conclude that, if hamsters do something at least daily, they can remember something for at least 24 hours.
my hamster never bit me and me and my sis had a fight with me and she poured oil on my hamster and it always bites me now and the fght was like 2 weeks ago
How long before squirrels are born?
Eastern grey squirrels and fox squirrels have two litters a year. The first litter is born from February to March while the second is born from June to July
A female mouse can get pregnant every five days. If you're looking to get your mouse pregnant, leave a male mouse with her for about two weeks, and weigh her. If she has gained a considerable amount of weight, then it means she is pregnant. So basically, mice will breed every five days, usually at night, although sometimes they might do it during the day.
What does a purring noise mean in a guinea pig language?
This means a guinea pig is experiencing pleasure, enjoyment, or excitement. You will hear this noise when you pet your guinea pig or feeding it a treat. If you hear this noise suddenly when you are not petting your guinea pig it is afraid or it feels threatened. They purr if they hear a loud noise: a telephone ring or a knock on the door.
What type of rodent is easiest to take care of?
I think rats are definitely the friendliest rodent! I have had lots of them and they were all friendly. Rats are very sociable with people and other rats. they love to play and be petted. They can live up to 4 years and can become really tame. They are very active so you need to keep them in a safe, secure environment because female rats are very fast and would possibly escape. Once your rat is tame you can have lots of fun, adventures with him/her so I would recommend them to anyone.
If your not a rat fan, then you could also try one or two guinea pigs. They cost slightly more than rats because they require a lot of space and exercise. I have only had one guinea pig called Fluffy and he was a great friend of mine! Guinea pigs rarely bite and squeal so you can handle and cuddle them safely. If you want two guinea pigs you should make sure they have a lot of space in their hutch and that they are the same sex unless you want them to have babies. ( if you want them to have babies, you will need an extra hutch or cage for the dad so the mum and her babies can relax and not get stressed).
Male guinea pigs can hurt baby guinea pigs, even if they are his so make sure he is separated from them!
a lemming goes to sleep as soon as it gets dark and wakes up as soon as the sun rises. the lemming uses the sun to tell the time.
This really isn't a simple question to answer, as it involves a massive array of data. So massive, in fact, that it has been the subject of debate for centuries up until a few years ago. A final picture was completed, and most of the scientists can now sleep easy at night. Here is the entire hypothesis in full (you might want to sit down for this.)
The fact of the matter is that the dinosaurs were in recline long before the 65.5 million year mark. We have found far fewer dinosaur genera from the K.T. boundary than from, say, 90 million BC. Not only dinosaurs, but just about everything else was in a period of struggle. Where an entire menagerie of pterosaurs- for example- once glided, only one or two species remained. This is believed to be caused by a rare surge in volcanic activity, among other things. The constant threat of poisonous fumes, falling soot, and overcast skies made periods of drought long, birthrates short, and times tough for life here. However, while this did push them, it is unknown whether this would have wiped them out for sure.
What really brought the dynasty to its knees, though, was the coup de grace, the infamous Baptistina asteroid chunk. This six-mile long piece of rock hit the gulf of Mexico with the estimated force of 100 teratons (100 trillion times the force) of TNT. The entire rock layer below it was shattered and blasted in all directions. A cloud of fire and sheer force demolished the open landscape as far away as Canada, and created mega-tsunamis miles high that raced around the globe. Debris from the initial blast rained down from the sky for days. The tectonic plates buckled, sending an upheaval of earthquakes and volcanoes. Wildfires of clearest origin destroyed much of the forest and plant life left.
Whatever survived this still faced the maw of the aftermath. All of the dust, debris, and ash from the previous events hovered over the sky, simply sitting. The planet was launched into a nuclear winter: it grew very cold very fast, and everything was deprived of sunlight for hundreds, maybe thousands of years. All of the plants which the dinosaurs fed off of withered away. The herbivores were starved and died off. The carnivores enjoyed a brief period of plenty, but eventually depleted their source and slowly, but surely, died off as well.
We as humans may be asking ourselves- how did we live while everything around us died. Well, I'll tell you.
I don't know.
With everything that survived the extinction, there was another that defied it.*
It's practically set up so that there's no real formula for who died and who didn't. We do know, though, that by some odd chance, they all weighed less than fifty pounds. We also know that we owe some thanks to the dinosaurs- if they lived, where would we be?...
*Mammals survived because they went underground, but birds couldn't burrow back then. Maybe it was because they were warm-blooded, then? But sharks and crocodiles survived as well. You can take it from here...
A groundhog is a rodent of the Sciuridae family and belongs to the group of marmots. The groundhog can be found in North America and is most common in the northeastern and central area.
