What are the worlds largest rodents living in South America?
That's the capybara, the largest living rodent in the world. There are larger rodents in the fossil record, but here and now, this critter is it. Wikipedia has a nice article and a picture. And a link is provided.
If your gerbil is not eating then it might have overgrown teeth or maybe with some gerbils if you have changed your gerbils diet it might not be used to it or it might be your fedding it too much
Can you use chinchilla dust for gerbils?
Yes you can. As long as its not clumpy and there is no wee or poo in the sand it is ok.
Best way to do this is after your Chin/s have had their bath is to pour the sand back into its bag or another container using a sieve (sifter)
This will stop the poo and hay going back in the sand.
God, I don't know. I don't know what a f***ing vole is.
Can you breed two different types of guinea pigs?
yes but they will come out weird and possibly disorented
What are the physiological adaptations for the jerboa?
Jerboas jump at least 4 times higher and longer than their front legs. The jumping ability was an adaptation for escape in the open deserts from predators. When a jerboa moves quick, it leaps and jumps with it's hind legs, jumping up to 3 meters in a single bounce.
Hay is the most important, but they need pellets that have vitamin c, that have no sugar or molasses, and that has no salt. You can give them dry uncooked oatmeal every other day and a dry uncooked whole wheat noodle once a week. Do NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING that HAS SUGAR IN IT! They might get diabetes if you do. The oatmeal and noodle are optional.
Why rodents do not have canine teeth?
The pair of front teeth on the upper jaw and the pair on the lower jaw of rodents grow constantly. This is an adaptation that allows them to gnaw on wood without wearing down their teeth. This is unusual, because most mammals do not have teeth that can grow or repair after they finish their initial development.
Do Beavers use particular trees to build their lodges?
they do not use any particular trees to build there lodges
What kind of rodents are the cleanest?
So far, I (as a child) have had two guinea pigs, one mouse, and one bunny. You can never really generalize on animals because each one is different. My guinea pigs were social but could be skittish at times and shed a lot. The mouse I had was mostly nocturnal (meaning they sleep during the day) and when I tried to pick him up, he always ran away frightened. The bunny I had was very sweet and lovable but bit me once and a friend told me it could have been his "teenage hormones".
As I said each breed and individual animal is different but my experience has been that bunnies/ rabbits tend to be the warmest, most social, cuddle up rodents out there.
No. Not at all, I don't think.
Because rats are WAY bigger than mice (unless its like, a super small rat)
and even then, the rat would probably kill the mouse. I don't recommend it.
What kind of mammal is a rodent?
Rodentia is an order of mammals also known as rodents, characterized by two continuously-growing incisors in the upper and lower jaws which must be kept short by gnawing. Common rodents include mice, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, gophers, porcupines, beavers, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, chinchillas
Can two female chinchillas be in a cage together?
Yeah, but like with every other animal, you have to introduce them slowly and let them get used to each other. It's best to have them in a neutral play area for a while, so they can smell and get use to each other, and neither has territory there. Then it's best to put them in a neutral cage together, again, territorial issues.
The rat, the opposum, the squirrel for openers.
Muskrat, rice rat, gerboa, gerbil, house mouse, any of various wild mice and rats or squirrels. The opossum is not a rodent, however, but a marsupial.
Yes. Herbivores are animals that eat only plants. Lemmings are actually thought to be omnivore. In times of food stress they will be cannibalistic. While they prefer tender shoots of grass and vegetation they have also been observed eating slugs, snails and other meats.
What does it mean when your guinea pig twitches?
It usually means it is scared or uncomfortable. My piggie does it whenever my dog is near. It seems to do it if it senses the presence of something big.
What type of berries do voles eat?
Voles are small rodents that resemble a mouse but are stouter in body. They are mostly herbivores and can live on almost any nut or fruit.
What is a hopping desert rodent?
The jumping rat, jerboa, and gerbil are three of the most well known ones.
What snakes don't eat rodents?
Actually, snakes are quite opportunistic and will eat carcasses they find in the wild! In captivity, it can be hard to get them to take dead prey, but with persistence and creativity they can successfully be switched. Live, warm prey is just a lot more tantalizing than dead cold prey, especially when your food is being handed to you regularly.
No, guinea pigs CANNOT eat fish, they are vegetarians and fish could make them sick and/or kill them
No because they can choke on them and they can not eat sugar.
Weasels are not a type of rodent. They are small, carnivorous mammals. Although they resemble rodents in appearance, they actually hunt rodents for food.
Do chinchillas die when they get wet?
Chinchillas should never get wet. Due to the denseness of the fur, the fur will not dry. The wet fur will fall out if it is wet for too long leaving the chinchilla exposed to the elements as minor as they are for us they are major elements to them. If your chinchilla gets wet towel dry him the best you can and then use a hair dryer to finish the job. Make sure the heat is set on low. Be aware that the hair dryer might scare your chinchilla.
One more thing i am aware of , ive also hear that chinchillas do over heat esaly , so yeah make sure you blow dry your chinchilla very carefully , not hot not cold but warm , and make sure its not to lowed so your chinchilla wont get scared :) - kmf
