A set refers to the waves. Waves come in sets. This means that the good, big waves will come in groups every so often. There can be 6 wave sets with 1 minute intervals. Which means that after the set comes, there will be a minute without waves. Then six waves come, one right after the other, and then wait a minute. The process repeats itself.

Where is the most dangerous place to surf?
Teahupoo is known as the heaviest wave in the world by many people. When a swell moves in over the reef it builds up out of nowhere and slams into some of the most insane barrels in the world. The water is around 6 feet deep and the waves use all of it leaving exposed reef in front and an extremely powerful force behind you. One slip and you are probably going to get hurt. This is probably the most dangerous place to surf that is worth surfing. I'm sure there are some crazy spots somewhere but danger is only worth the rush.

Depends on which island, and what time of year. The daily weather report on TV includes a surf report. Usually the Southern side of the islands has mild surf. If you are on Oahu, then Waikiki and Diamond Head usually have moderate surf. The North Shore has BIG- I mean REALLY big waves.

Surfing has changed in the following ways: The boards have gotten a lot smaller and lighter. When surfing originated in hawaii, the boards were big and bulky e.g 10 foot+ longboards. The materials used in the boards. Nowadays, boards are made of plastic, fibreglass and high density foam. Opposed to chunky wooden longboards. Due to the changes in the boards, surfing has become faster and the waves ridden are now bigger. The moves attempted are more daring and the overall sport is more competitive. There are professional surfers now, compared to when surfing was just a hobby, a pastime and a way to relax. Surfing is still progressing, with new waxes being developed, and new moves being tested. I recommend surfing to everyone. Its a great way to get fit and relaxxxx.
