They did not really know each other that well before marrying. You will never really know someone who has hidden that kind of terror for years. Little bits will rear their ugliness as you try to get close to that person. She was intrigued with his story when reading about it but, to be around the psychopathy of the hurt from day to day is another story. Everything revolved around him...everything. That is hard to compete with. I am speaking from experience. I have a very patient husband. We have been together for 16 years. I tried to tell him of my pain from the beginning. He kept saying keep it in the past. Now he sees the damage, listens and does his part to Help Me Heal. I applaud his resilience. Mr. Pelzer took his pain on the road. She probably felt like she did not matter. I Pray the both find Happiness.

Before she died in 1992 (I belive), he talked to her once after he was taken away from her, he talked to her, it was at his father's funeral. His mother, as usual, was degrading and belittling him....

"All those years you tried your best to break me, and I'm still here. Father's finally free, Ron's (his brother) in the service, and soon the boys will move out on their own. I'm a good person. I try my best in everything I set out to do. I make mistakes, I screw up, but I learn. I don't blame others for my problems. I stand on my own. And one day you'll see, I'm going to make something of myself. Whether I dig ditches or flip burgers for the air force, I'll be the best, and somehow, some way, I won't waste my life away. If you taught me anything, you taught me that. Stay away from me. Everything you've done to others...I pray for you every night, I swear to God, I really do. You may have your papers, your money, whatever. You can hate everybody and everything on this planet, but YOU lose!'.** *NOTE: that was from his book, A Man Named Dave and, when they talked, I belive she tryed to hit his face, but he stoped her with his hand and grabed her hand, and said he forgave her.

isn't normal human body temp lik 96.7 or something? if so your baby is not having a fever rather he might be decreasing his internal body heat. a fever normally starts around 100.1 temp which is mild to a 107 which is serious.

A average body temp is 98.6! Your 3 year old is just probalby a little cool ! take it a couple more times to make sure that just isn't her temp !

Kenneth Pelzer a.k.a Kevin was the youngest brother of David (Dave) Pelzer. David being the second oldest of five brothers, Kevin being the youngest brother. In 1995, Dave Pelzer wrote the book called "A Child Called It" (an autobiographical memoir of an abused childhood).

With your permission your child can do just about anything he wishes. However, you will have a legal responsibility to care for him if he needs it. If your state has early emancipation laws, then you could petition the court, and with your permission, and provided that he is capable of fully supporting himself, emancipation would likely be granted. Unless he's been in trouble with the law, which is generally an indication to the court that the child is in need of supervision. If emancipation is granted by the court then you would no longer have any responsibility for the child. Just be aware that I'm speaking in general terms here, because you did not advise which state you live in. You need to check the laws of your state.

It is quite possible that "child abuse" laws in the 70's weren't very well addressed. Not that it is right that she got away with torture, degradation, neglect, abuse, etc.... The father should have been arrested just as much as The Mother. How can anyone do these things to another human? How can someone allow it to happen? It is too obvious that The Family was living in denial of what David was suffering.

Catherine Roerva Christen Pelzer was Dave Pelzer's mother, who passed away in 1992.

Catherine was an alcoholic who had been drinking from the age of 13. Brought up in the Mormon community of Salt Lake City, she would hide in the outhouse during Prohibition to wince down bootleg whiskey. Her parents were divorced, which made them outcasts in that religious community, and Catherine was frequently locked in a closet, denied food, and told how despicable she was.

Catherine suffered from alcoholism and was mentally ill. Her mental illness was Borderline Personality Disorder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderline_personality_disorder ('Witch'), which is characterized by an irrational fear of rejection and abandonment and self-hatred as a result of surviving a childhood that required complete submission to a hostile or sadistic caregiver (pg 131) Christine Ann Lawson of 'Understanding the Borderline Mother'.

No she was never brought to justice by the law, she died of natural causes (heart related) in 1992 in and all 5 of her sons and her mother were the only attendees at her funeral, in which as i am led to understand to "make sure that it was over".
