How do you replace 2008 MDX license plate lights?
I'm going to guess that its the same as the 2007 MDX. There is a black trim that the license plate lights recess into. You will need to remove the 5 or so screws and remove the rear view camera cover if you have one to get to the remaining screws. Once the screws have been removed you will need to bend the trim slightly to free the tabs at both ends. Once the trim has been removed you will see the light covers. The covers have lips on one side to push and release the cover latch. I had a little trouble and used a flat screwdriver to help remove the cover. Once the cover is removed you will have access to the bulb. Do everything in a reverse order to put it back together.

I don't know if it is illegal, it is there for you as a reminder to maintain your car, it is for your use only. But it should not be that hard to reset it yourself. We have a Tundra that the 'maint needed' light comes on. It is programmed to come on every 5000 miles as a reminder. This is how we reset ours: 1. Turn key to accessory port only (where everything comes on, but the engine does not) 2. Push reset button to change from the 'trip meter' to your odometer reading. Press and HOLD the button while odometer reading is diplayed. DON'T LET GO OF THE RESET BUTTON. 3. Turn key off while STILL HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON. 4. Turn key back on to the accessory port again WHILE STILL HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON. The odometer reading should change to a 00000000 or ----------. 5. You are now done. The light will come back on in 5000 miles again to remind you to change oil and ?????
