What type of doctor do you need to see about adult ADD?
Your first doctor should be your family physican or pediatrician. This is to ensure that other conditions such as depression are addressed, as well. Ask your doctor for a referral to a psychologist and/or psychiatrist, if symptoms are not fully treated. First, though, you need to further educate yourself on the topic. What is the best diet for ADHD?
It is thought eating foods that are good for overall brain health and function can be beneficial for ADHD symptoms. Eating high protein foods (beans, meat, eggs, etc.), foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids (tuna, salmon, walnuts, olive oil, etc.) are all known to improve brain function and overall concentration. A diet consisting of these foods may help with adult ADHD.
What's the best drug for ADD without hyperactivity?
I do not think there is a correct answer to the question. It really becomes which is the most suitable for the child. Each child is different and no two medication will probably work for him in the same way. The whole process of finding the correct dose and the correct medication can some times take a while. I feel you need to trial the meds and see which one he has the best results with. My child is add and is on stattera and for our family this is the medication that suits us best and suits his needs. Although it is not perfect we our finally happy with our choice of medication. Our child is happy and our lives are able to function well although like I said not perfect. * You might want to look for an alternative non drug way to be able to pay attention better, look at the higher potential you would have. What herbs or foods improve concentration and memory?
Today's people have a "take a pill to fix it" mentality - people feel that there must be some sort of medicine, herbal supplement, food, or drink that will cure any problem!
There are many myths about how to boost your brain power, increase your focus and concentration, or make yourself learn faster.
According to the latest scientific survey, none of the so-called herbal brain supplements actually work. They tested B-Vitamins, Gingko biloba, Ginseng, Gotu kola, and Huperzine A - none of them made any difference in actual memory. Most of them are just vitamins and caffeine - both of which you can buy much more cheaply than in these "miracle focus supplements."
I have added a link to a website listing Focus Factor's ingredients - mostly vitamins!
Keep in mind that people who "swear" that some product worked for them WANTED to believe in the product, and any improvement they saw they convinced themselves that it was because of the product and not because of anything else.If you want to spend your money on "snake oil" supplements which have not been proven to do anything besides make you jittery and nervous, please keep the following in mind:
Who manufacturers the products? Do they have an address and a phone number on the product and on the website? You'd be surprised to find out how many companies do not contain this information effectively making it very difficult to contact the company regarding complaints of refunds. Also, what other products do they make? Does the company Focus and pride themselves on these kind of supplements or do they make a little bit of everything (Jack of all Trades)?
Do they have a Guarantee or Return Policy? Is the process straight forward and displayed on their website? Guarantees and Return Policies show a company is willing to stand by their product as they believe it works. I rank this high on things to look for when looking at supplements. More so, make sure the policy is clearly visible as some products will say MONEY BACK GUARANTEE yet the actually policy is tucked away in small print at the bottom of the page and requires the customer to jump through hoops - make sure this isn't the case!
What is in the product? Of course you want to know what you are taking so make sure to read the ingredient list and even google the ingredients. Also look into ingredient quality as it is one thing to take a certain amount on X, but another to make sure it is actually effective and being UTILIZED by your body. Products that are made from higher quality ingredients often pride themselves as such on their websites or product packaging. Also, if you are concerned about this kind of stuff, you may care to look out for excessive amounts of food coloring or chemical additives. These are often added to make the product appealing and do nothing for how effective it is.
Read Reviews. Google for reviews before hand and see what people are saying and whether or not it worked for them. Often you'll get Mixed reviews as no supplements work for everyone 100% of the time, however by reading and seeing a handful you can get an overall idea if it is worth a try or to stay clear and look into something else. What is the treatment of hyperacidity?
Juice of Aloe and/or Bottle Gourd on an empty stomach every morning.
Camomile Tea through the day. Cold Milk, fruits like apples and bananas (the soothing ones).
If you have long term hyperacidity you might want to consider some form of alternative medicine to help get your tummy back to working well. The link below is one;

A friend's child has ADHD how can you help?
does your daughter take medication? Because if she does, you can just help her study, but if it makes her angry, leave the subject alone for awhile. If not, then just do practically what she asks of you, as long as it makes sense to you.
Is falling asleep easily a sign of ADHD?
no its not really easy to fall asleep with ADHD in fact I have it and for me it is hard to fall asleep i take melatonin and it helps me fall asleep and when you yell alot you have adhd or add .i pinch myself when i get angry if you have it try to find somthing that will make you able to be mad at yourself!
Half of all the kids showing symptoms of ADHD don't grow out if it. For the rest the symptoms become less severe as a person grows older. Hyperactivity usually stops in the late teenage years. There is no specific age when this happens. Experts believe that the problems with organization and attention often remain. About half of children who have ADHD continue to be easily distracted, have mood swings, hot tempers and are unable to complete tasks as adults.
It's plausible, but you would need to see a doctor to be sure. This may sound awkward and unrelated but if you have problems writing and reading cursive and nothing seems to alleviate this problem you may have ADD/ADHD. For some strange reason the ADD/ADHD brain can't make sense of cursive, which is why most schools have made learning cursive optional. also do you do better on multiple choice questions on tests? If you said yes to this as well as I said before you may have ADD/ADHD. ADDers tend to do better on multiple choice tests because that's how are brain works, we do well at rapid fire questions but for some reason we don't do so well when we do short answer or essay questions. The best description of ADD/ADHD I have ever heard was "It's like having a Lamborghini engine in an old ford truck." If you understand the feeling you may want to get tested for ADD/ADHD.
What is the treatment for septicaemia?
Septicaemia (American spelling: septicemia) is when there are pathogenic bacteria actively living in the blood stream. The treatment is generally IV antibiotics, IV fluids and supportive care while the bacteria are destroyed. Septicaemia is a life-threatening condition and generally results in a person being very ill, so treatment is usually provided during a hospital stay.
when ive either forgotten to take my medicine, I've run out and dont have the money to get it refilled, or its an especially stressfull day and the medicine just isnt working as well as it usually does, I rely on one, or a combination of four things. Caffeine is primary, longer lasting are menthol cough drops (mint discs are a little less effective but also longer lasting) and mint tea from the mint leaves I grow in my garden. Spearamint is the single easiest thing in the world to grow, just put some cuttings in dirt or potting soil....make sure theyre well watered until the cuttings take root....and they'll pretty much take over any space in wich you plant them
People do not "grow out" of ADHD. As they get older we learn to control and even use our ADHD gifts.
I've learned to filter myself when I get excited
I've learned to use what I refer to as laser-focusing when I'm troubleshooting computers or writing a program.

Are ADHD pills better than ADHD patches?
Daytrana is a patch delivery system for methylphenidate marketed by Shire Pharmaceuticals. It is a once-daily patch applied for children ages 6-12; the patch doesn't require additional dosing throughout the school day which makes it more convenient.
It depends on the milligram of the Pill, and if it's an extended release capsule or if it's a tablet. The extended release (xr) capsules have beads inside the capsule. There are two different types of these beads, one of them gets absorbed immediately and the other is made to take longer to absorb and doesn't effect you until the other immediate release beads wear off. that way you can feel the effects all day. and the tablets are all immediate release so all the pill gets absorbed into your body at once and you get stronger but shorter effects. So now that I've explained it to you, the adderall xr would last about 12 hours as long as your doctor has given you an appropriate dose that works for you. And the adderall tablets would last probably at the most 7 hours also as long as you got the appropriate dose.
How does focus factor work on adults?
It worked for me. I was at the top of my game when I took Focus Factor. In fact, it worked so well that it was scary because I thought there must be a negative side effect, but I never experienced one. Unfortunately, Focus Factor was simply too expensive (and this was back when I had much more money to spend), and I had to stop buying it. My concentration dropped off again. If cost is important, there are certain foods which improve memory and concentration, and they might be a cheaper alternative. The Focus Factor was very expensive, but it did what it promised to do.
Note:There is no real evidence of any food, drug, or herbal remedy that can improve memory.
Are there any ADHD treatments that don't use medications?
The number one people medicate ADD (usually without even realizing they are) is by smoking cigarettes. Obviously that is a terrible alternative. Take it from me. Good for the ADD but bad for, say, remaining alive.
Another option is the careful, judicous use of caffeine. I prefer green tea. Caffeine generally (not always) has a calming, focusing effect on ADD folks, rather than the buzz and rush for non-Add folk.
Too much coffee (not all that much, really) will actually make me take a nap, makes me sleepy like a sedative.
But the right amount of caffeine, combined with a decent diet and exercise would go a long, long way.
Caffeine and nicotine are still drugs and actually are much worse than the amphetamines for treating ADD/ADHD. There are a number of good supplements that help support the neurotransmitters and indirectly help ADD symptoms. These include L-Tyrosine, GABA, fish oil, flax seed oil, ginkgo biloba, ginsing, and guarana. ADD-care however is in a class by itself. It is an all natural supplement, but it is the only one that has been shown to activate the prefrontal cortex as well as the stimulants without side effects. It has been studied at the Amen Clinic and met or beat the stimulants performance on SPECT brain imaging scans and the Conner's ADD impulsiveness test. It is available at http://www.add-care.com In years gone by it was treated with corporal punishment.
What medications are used to treat ADD?
I am 42 and was tested and told i have adhd and a learning disability in 2001. I wasn't sure how to feel or what this meant for me. I felt angry that my whole life i struggled with school, work, family,my husband and kids. and now you tell me . So being the stubborn person I learned to be I didn't ask, tell, or treat this thing they called adhd. The learning part I learned to hide it.
I am older now and this is effecting every part of my life. So I decided to get on meds, adderal. I will tell you it does help me think clearer, but doesn't stop the body and pressure i feel in my head.and then i hyperfocus on what ever comes in my head it usally is let down in life, hurt, frustration and feeling like i need to go so my family doesn't suffer anymore. so i started looking up adhd. only to find out there isn't much for adults. my husband can't deal with it and doesn't no what to say or not to say to me so he needed help so he started looking up things. there is a group called CHADD that meets and has speakers,if your married they can come and they help you both deal with issuse that come up in marriage and how to cope withadhd. the other sites are www.add.org.and addinfonetwork.com I hope these help you, I am looking into phycotherapy they help you with the tools you need to manage and help build your self esstem again. As he found sites that deal with adults i have realised it gets worse with menapause and meds needs to be adjusted. There are alot of books out there on adult adhd. some are saying and teaching you how to see this as a gift, and list all the successful people that have adhd. All the information is overwelming and seems to confuse me and overwhelm me.So take it slow. I can and do share your hurt, frustration and fear. but it is important that we pull are selfs up and get help for are selfs. we don't have a problem helping others.it is very hard when we can't help are self because it feeds the i am worthless, stupid. different, and no one understands us and pulls us deeper in. i am going through that right now, i see all the help but seem to be overwhelmed with it all.just be your self, don't try to be anything more. i have put on societies face to long worrying how people would respond. I don't care anymore what, how and if i need to take care of me and you should do the same thing.your worth it, and some day we can laugh about it.and feel free . i hope i helped you with information as well as sharing a little of what my life is.keep in touch and let me no how your doing.
be your self , live, laugh, and cry when needed, Karen
What are misconceptions about ADHD?
One of the most common, I think, is that the parent of a child who seems out of control is a bad parent. Also, one of the best management skills is to keep a structured schedule for the child--as the child grows older it is hard for him/her (and maybe teachers) to recognize that the development and use of the skills is a coping skill and not a reflection of intelligence. Actually, it is a general truism that ADD people are some of the most intelligent people on the planet--not the most stupid.
What emotional development delay do children with ADHD have?
There can sometimes be difficulty with socialization. Being obstinate, or stubborn is common, which is why they can be difficult to discipline. They may also have trouble getting along with their peers and teachers. They can be seen by other children as domineering or bullying. Also their moods can change frequently. Just as their attention shifts easily, their moods can, too.
attention-deficit
How much money is spent in drug therapy for ADHD each year?
Was given an estimate today in Los Angeles for $2400 for diagnostic tests that take roughly 5 hours. Seem a tad pricey, if you hask me.
In some cases, yes. Universities and colleges around North America are reporting an increase in prescriptions for stimulant drugs used to treat ADHD; some people fake symptoms for the stimulant medication which can allow them to study longer and stay more focused.
