Can you give an 8 yr old cough medicine with Zyrtec?
Dogs can have either Zyrtec or Robitussin DM (or CF). These medications are for two different purposes, they can't be used interchangeably. Zyrtec is an allergy medication, and Robitussin is a cough suppressant.
Your vet can advise you of the proper medication and dose for your dog, based on it's weight and the condition your dog has.
Allergies are an immune system reaction to substances that don't harm most people. This can include pollens, dust, foods, cosmetics, and such. The body produces antibodies to neutralize the foreign substance, which triggers the release of histamine, which produces what we see as allergies or asthma. the symptoms of allergies can vary from; a runny nose, itchy eyes, itchy palate; rash, sneezing, hives and naseau.
Treatment can work on any part of the process: avoiding the allergen, reducing the production of histamines, etc. Allergies should be taken seriously; most allergic reactions are merely annoying but some can lead to sinus infections or in extreme cases they can be life threatening. Making it important for you to treat your allergies.

When the term allergy was coined, it referred to a broad category of adverse reactions to substances. Today, allergy specifically refers to an immunologic interaction between an allergen and an antibody. Other adverse reactions are now typically referred to as intolerances.
It also causes breathing to stop if it is that serious like I have.
What causes thick mucus drainage in throat?
Smoking can cause the mucus. There is a medicine that can relieve mucus, called N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, and in Asia it is available in many different forms behind the counter. In the United States this drug is considered a vitamin and has been shown to boost your immune system and has shown signs of counter attacking bi-polar depression as well. What is a milk allergy symptom?
A milk allergy is caused by a protein specifically found in cow's milk. It is not the same as being lactose intolerant because that is an inability to digest a sugar found in cow's milk. See the related link for more information.
The body can be allergic to any food; therefore any food allergy is capable of causing inflammation and arthritis. This includes RA, juvenile arthritis, and undefined joint pains. This is why it can be so difficult for one to recognize the relationship between their diet and their symptoms. Let's use a dairy allergy as an example. If you eat any form of dairy, be it milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, or even dairy in the form of casein or whey in another food product, such as bread or milk chocolate, then you can potentially trigger the symptoms of your food allergy, in this case arthritis. Allergy symptoms may show up hours or even a day later, well after a food is absorbed into your system.

Can you take both dramamine and Tylenol cold medicine?
The answer is probably yes - dramamine is an antihistamine while Tylenol is generally acetominophen (an NSAID). However, if the Tylenol has any other active ingredient (check the back of the box), I would not mix the medications without consulting a pharmacist.

Can elderflower cordial cause and allergic reaction?
Yes! Many years ago I had elderflower cordial with dinner at a friend's house. By the next morning my legs were itchy. During the day I started breaking out in hives all over my body and anti-histamines were little help. By the next day, still covered in hives, the doctor was called as I was feeling faint every time I tried to stand and had developed a severe wheeze and difficulty breathing. The doctor came out and prescribed Prednisolone - 5 day course - and a Salbutamol inhaler to help my breathing. He asked what I'd had and I told him what I'd eaten and drunk before having this reaction. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the food, but I knew for a fact it was only the second time I'd ever had elderflower. The doctor said that this is the time a food allergy will flare up as the first occasion is when the body becomes sensitive to an allergen.
That summer I developed hayfever for the first time (starting in May when the elderflower comes out!) and have had it ever since. I have also suffered from asthma since that time. The hives - which were literally from the soles of my feet to my scalp in large, red, itchy patches, took a week to go. Needless to say, I have never been near elderflower since but, strangely, almost all my research has shown elderflower to be beneficial for allergies. Curious! This is the first comment I've seen questioning whether it can actually cause an allergic reaction.

What are the symptoms of an egg allergy?
An egg allergy is one kind of food allergy. The signs and symptoms of food allergies are generally the same but vary from person to person. Classic symptoms begin from seconds to an hour or so after exposure and may include:
When symptoms are shown where breathing is impaired and circulation is affected, the person is said to be in anaphylactic shock. This can be an immediately life threatening situation.
Some people have only a few symptoms, others have many. Managing a wide ranging allergy requires constant attention and learning, which, when you are a child or teen, can be an exceptionally difficult and at times embarrassing. Common biggest problems include eating out at new places and eating abroad unless you speak the language.
Egg and poultry products are used in so many different food stuffs and cross contamination is a major issue so this allergy can be particularly difficult to manage. Waiters and chefs generally understand "NO EGGS OR POULTRY" but often fail to realise that the sauce has chicken stock in it or will put Mayo (containing egg products) on your burger.
Why would a 10-year-old girl get a lot of headaches?
It could be so many reasons, from migraines to stress to anything really. If her headaches are constant and quite painful... be sure to get her checked out.
If you notice any of these signs:
*Not being able to walk straight
*Blackouts
*Constant dizziness or blurred vision
* Extreme nausea
*Slurred speech
*Complete inability to focus
I would recommend seeing a doc ASAP. It could be anything like a migraine to something much more serious with these mentioned symptoms.
When she has a headache, lay her down in a dark room and let her rest. Make sure it is quiet or have the fan on. If this is a migraine, it should help. Try to keep her on healthier foods and limit any soda or caffeine consumption.

Why isn't there a cure for hayfever?
Hayfever is a common name for a medical condition known as allergic rhinitis. It is an allergic reaction to one or more 'allergens' (substances that trigger the symptoms). Common allergens include pollens, dust, molds and animal dander, but there are other triggers as well. The symptoms of hayfever can include one, more or all of these: runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, itchy ears, 'plugged' ears, sneezing, post nasal drip, sinus congestion, dry cough. In asthmatics it can trigger or worsen asthma symptoms. As always, it is recommended that a person be evaluated by a medical professional to receive an accurate diagnosis. The cause of hayfever is the reason it cannot be "cured" at this time. It is essentially a relatively minor defect in the persons immune system, thought to be caused by a genetic mutation. What happens is that when exposed to an allergen, the allergic persons immune system goes to work to neutralize the foreign substance (allergen). This occurs with all people, but in the person with hayfever, there is a mild to severe over-reaction to the allergen. Histamine, which is part of the immune defense system, is over produced, causing the symptoms of hayfever. This is why antihistamines control these symptoms. There are other medicines to control symptoms as well, but generally require an evaluation by a medical professional as they are prescription meds. It should be pointed out that sometimes a series of increasing strength shots of the allergen, administered by a qualified allergy specialist, and commomly called 'allergy shots' can lead to a long term remission of symptoms and even a 'cure', but technically it is not a cure- it is a desensitization of the immune systems reaction to the allergen. However, this is the exception rather than the rule. More commonly, a reduction in the severity of symptoms is the result of these allergy shots. These shots are usually reserved for people with moderate-severe to severe symptoms. The symptoms of hayfever can vary from year to year, or even day to day, depending upon how much allergen the person is exposed to. For instance, if allergic to ragweed pollen, the symptoms will worsen the higher the pollen count goes. For more information, consult one of the professional medical websites, such as nih.gov or cdc.gov.

What antiseptic do you use for patients with betadine allergy?
If the reaction to the betadine is consistent with contact dermatitis(hives, redness, some swelling, itch), the treatment of choice would be a steroid injection and possibly a steroid cream. Of course an emergent anaphalactic reaction to betadine would be epinephrine.
