A Gundam, although portrayed in many different forms throughout it's extensive franchise history, is generally the same basic idea throughout the series. The first "Anime" was Tetsuwan Atomu or better known as Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka that first aired in 1963. Tezuka was refered to the "God of Manga", because he started most of everything that makes Anime what it is today was started by him. Tezuka created the big eyes to convey emotion better. The gray themes of good and evil, right and wrong were evident during the first episode when Astro Boy's creator realized that Astro could never replace the son he lost so he sent him off to the circus.
