Origin of April Fools' Day
There are several theories about the origin of April Fools' Day. The most popular explanation is the switch to the Gregorian calendar. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (the Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian date. Prior to that, the new year was celebrated for eight days, from March 25 until April 1. Those who did not adapt the new calendar system, or did not learn about it, continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April 1. Other people began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on "fool's errands" or trying to trick them into believing something false.
These April "fools" were subjected to ridicule and practical jokes and the tradition was born. These pranks were first called Poisson d'avril (April fish) because a young, naive fish is easily caught. A common prank was to hook a paper fish on the back of someone as a joke. This evolved over time and a custom of prank-playing continues on the first day of April.
Have a funnel and a penny.
Put the funnel in your pants and the penny on your nose.
Lean your head down and the penny should go in to the funnel.
Challenge you sibling to do the same thing - i.e. put the funnel in their pants and drop a penny in it from their nose.
When your sibling has their head tilted back have a glass of water (best if it's ice water) and pour the water into the funnel - and then run as fast as you can

Christmas in Columbia
Traditional Christmas Greeting: "Felize Navidad"
Location: South America
Tree Type: Traditional
Decorations: The Museum's Colombian tree is decorated with lights, baskets of candy, ribbons, fabric dolls and homemade ornaments.
Traditions: Christmas celebrations in Colombia, shaped by the 90 percent of Colombians who are Roman Catholic, begin in early December with a ceremony in honor of the Virgin Mary. On the evening of December 7th, families light scores of candles and use them to outline streets, sidewalks, and parks so that entire cities are illuminated. December 8th brings a national holiday commemorating the Immaculate Conception during which more prayers and candles are offered to the Virgin Mary. Christmas trees are raised and decorated on December 16th with the start of the Novena, which in Colombia involves a nine-day prayer ritual with a rosary in anticipation of Christmas day. During this time of celebration of Christ's birth, groups of families and friends, often encompassing an entire village or neighborhood, will gather together each night to pray. Villancicos, better known as Christmas carols, are also sung around the nativity scene that plays a significant part of Colombia's Christmas celebrations. Most Colombians attend Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve before returning home for dinner. The Christmas meal often includes a special chicken soup called Ajiaco, homemade breads, fritters, roast port and natilla, a corn-based dessert. Presents are brought by "El Niño Jesus" to the foot of children's beds by the next morning, and after a relaxing day spent with family, the Christmas season is complete.
because april fools day is when there is a joke, they want to stay happy all day including jokes.
There are a lot of explanations for it, but the most popular revolves around the start of the year.
In the Middle Ages. many places celebrated the New Year in a week-long party starting on March 25 and ending on April 1. It coincided with a Christian rite called the Feast of the Annunciation, when the Angel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary she was to be the mother of Jesus. When the New Year was changed to January 1, the people who changed to the new holiday called people who celebrated the old one "April fools."
This is the ultimate, most awesome, hilarious, best joke to do on ANYONE!!! It will work better if your victim is really buff and strong and acts like he is so awesome. Like a marine or army or navy guy. Or your dad!
Step One:
When he is asleep, grab a video recorder (optional, but you would want to see this over and over again!), shaving cream, a feather or something thin and ticklish, decorative supplies, and that's all!
Step Two:
Rub the shaving cream near the victim's *nose, and face. Next decorate his face! Put red powder for blush, draw something into the cream, BE CREATIVE! Careful not to laugh or this joke is off!
Step Three:
It's the funniest step! Scream, "There are slugs all over your face!" while tickling the feather at the nose! You can yell anything else that is slimy like worms, saliva, anything! It will startle the victim and he will smack his face! This will get shaving cream all over him! He will be so confused!
HAVE FUN!!!
Poisson d'avril means "April Fish" in french, but they really mean "April Fool's" if you translated into english.
