If becoming a Ranger in the Army you are required to go to Army language school. There is a few other classes that you have to go to in order to become a Ranger in the Army.

There isn't one which parallels the Rangers exactly - most of the Canadian Forces Airbourne units were disbanded following some controversy over recorded statements made by those personnel, among other reasons.

Joint Task Force 2 is the Canadian special operations contingent, which might be tasked to perform some functions similar to the Rangers, but most of what they'd do would be more in line with Delta Force, SEALs, etc.

Anyone serving in the 75th Ranger Regiment is on active jump status. As for simply being Ranger qualified, being jump qualified isn't a requirement. However, for someone to be sent to Ranger School without being sent to jump school first is rare, but not entirely unheard of.

The President's Hundred tab, Special Forces tab, Ranger tab, Combat Infantryman/Combat Medic/Combat Action badge, parachutist wings, Air Assault wings, scuba qualification badge, Pathfinder badge, etc. are individual awards which can be worn by a soldier who has earned them, regardless of if they change units or MOS.

An Army Ranger is an elite, light infantry soldier of the US Army. They are members of the 75th Ranger Regiment, which has approx. 2500 men. They are infantry, medics, and other support personnel. There are 4 battalions. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Special Troops Battalion. In order to join these ranks, you must complete these steps.

1. enlist in the army with an MOS found in the Rangers.

2. Pass basic combat training and AIT ( Advanced individual training )

3. Pass Basic airborne school, as it is a requirement to be a ranger, as is with most us special ops.

4. Volunteer and attend RASP ( Ranger assessment and selection program ). This is an 8 week course which determines if you have what it takes to be a ranger. This course has only about 1/4 of volunteers pass. After completion, you will be assigned to one of the ranger battalions and be an army ranger.

5. After about a year or so, you will be sent to US Army Ranger School. This course is a leadership course. It's graduates are commonly confused with being rangers. Although they earn the ranger tab, they are not actually rangers. A ranger must pass this course in order to hold a leadership position in the Regiment and attend specialty schools such as Freefall and Scuba.

The rangers perform a variety of tasks. They are a special operations, light infantry force, possibly the best infantry in the world. They conduct raids and shock operations by land, air , or sea. It's different training. Cavalry scouts are 100 percent in the reconnaissance business--six guys will go out there and stake out an enemy line of march, and report back what they find. Rangers do many different missions.

No, but if you're being sent to Ranger school, you'll more than likely be sent to Airborne school enroute, if you're not already jump qualified. You must be jump qualified to serve in any of the Ranger Battalions, however.

I have this rifle with the original scope and it still looks like it did when my dad purchased them for me and my brother. I believe the year was 1959 as it was a Chistmas present. I have used the gun a lot in my younger years and found the 22 short ammo was a little bit hard to use as it did not have enough blow back to shoot really rapid fire. It does a really good job with the long and long rifle rounds. I hope that this helps you. I will be passing this gun on to my grandsons and hope that they will get the use from it that I did. There were many squirrels that are now not alive today because of this gun.

Army rangers are an elite force in the military. They use precision air strike, aiming, and tactics. SWAT uses the breach code (full force break into the house) light weapons and on a scale of 1-10 a 9 in skill. If a "Ranger" or a SWAT solider went head to head im almost 99.9% sure a "Ranger" would McOwn. even though i love SWAT team tactics ,Rangers are trained better.
