The assembly that replaced the Articles of Confederation was the Bill of Rights.

It never really spoke of the actual issue of inflation, but it did allow the states AND the central government to print money. This caused confusion and a high inflation since there were over 20 forms of currency circulating the U.S.

The Articles were a complete mess because they didn't structure the government in a way that it could be considered a government. It allowed states to have their own money, tax people coming into their state, the states were arguing over boundaries, there was no funding for the government, no military or navy, and it was a loose confederation of states.

Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and a few others were the advocates. They wanted to alter/abolish them because it created a government that was too weak and pissed off the people. the problem was mostly that the gov it created was too weak. it was difficult because a certain number of delegates had to agree on the changes and that was difficult to make happen. they also weren't supposed to abolish the articles. none of the delegates had permission from their state to destroy it; that was why they closed all the doors and windows to the building they were in while they were doing this.

One of the major problems with the Articles of Confederation was the fact that the government had difficulty raising revenue. This made for a very weak central government.

They were an early attempt by the Founding Fathers at a new governmental system for the country. They lasted until around the late 1780s. The biggest flaw in them was that every state was practically an individual country...completely different from it's neighbors in some respects. Each state could print it's own money was one huge flaw. There was no Federal government as such; each state was pretty much absolute in its own borders. Eventually the Articles just collapsed in on theirselves.
