Audi A4

Faulty Brake Light Switch...causes this and a myriad of other prblems. Replacing switch no guarantee....I had mine replaced (today, November 20th)...with another faulty switch...creating even more problems (won't shift out of 1st gear...ABS/ESP warnings go on...brake light doesn't work (stuck on "on"). Still waiting for dealer to resolve...have to wait until Monday.

unless you have the 4 digit number you cant...a visit to Audi is the only way

"It isn't difficult but thought I would show the steps to replace the Cabin Air Filter. Parts: NPN Charcoal Activated Cabin Air Filter - 8K0 819 439A

1. The filter is located under the glove box. A small light will help you find what you are looking for.

2. There are three plastic screws that need to be unscrewed. Once they are loose remove the plastic/foam piece they were holding in. Feel free to give it a tug, it won't rip.

3. Once removed you will expose a hard plastic tray that holds the filter in place. It has a piece that you can grab a hold of. Push it to the right to remove it.

4. The filter will most likely fall part way out once the tray is removed. You will have to give it a few tugs to get it out the rest of the way. Remember which way the notch was when you pulled it out as the new one will have to go in the same way.

5. Once removed put in the new filter and reverse the steps above. Finished, money saved!"

How much should it cost to replace engine mounts on a 1997 audia4 quattro

In the container in front of the windshield container. It should be on the right corner (facing the front of the car)

Though not the best design - it is doable with simple tools. Note: my car is: Audi 2003 / 2004 Quattro A4 3.0

1. Remove weather stripping (3/4" thick strip across top of sheet metal between engine and fire wall (just give it a tug to get it going)

2. Remove plastic shield covering battery (remove the small one above the battery to give youself some leverage point). To remove the large plastic piece just pull up on the front edge of it first (along the entire edge) - there will be a metal clip or two unless they fell off. Then pull it out of the recessed edge (other side) - it comes out as one piece. Note where the metal clips were! :)

3. Lay cloth on side of car. :)

4. If you have time run to Sears (or local tool shop) and buy metric Allen heads for your nut-driver or socket set nut-driver. This will save you a headache....

5. Remove the positive and negative leads (I like to wrap the + cable in cloth so it doesn't touch anything....

6. My radio etc. were all fine. Alarm was fine so no need to do the battery trick...

7. If you don't have a nut-driver/Allen set (like me since it was Sunday night) just use a #6 Allen wrench with a ball tip (not necessary but helps)

8. The screw that holds the battery wedge in place is in a terrible spot - the front center of the battery. If they had only made a cut-out in the sheet metal this would be simple. But....they didnt' So use your Allen wrench along with some pliers to un-do the cap-head screw. Don't worry, it is locked into the plastic piece so it won't fall into the bottom of the engine compartment.

9. Slide the battery screw over out of the way

10. Remove the breather tube on the + side of the battery

11. Tilt the battery backwards, slide it out - Again, Audi, just another 1/4" here would have been nice!!! you may have to cut the zip-tie on the + cable cover to get the battery out. I did.

12. put new battery in

13. Replace all the gear in reverse order.

14. Return your battery core to the store for your refund (US)

15. Don't buy a Toyota next time! :) Audis are beautiful cars that perform like no others...

remove the weather stripping from the big plastic thing and bull the plastic cover off with force. The battery is secured by a mysterious screw that is very hard to reach and that's what is killing me.

good luck... next time im buying a Toyota!

Low battery and when attempting to start car ran battery further down. Date and time went to default settings and fuel gauge registered empty. Charged battery. Fuel gauge still showing nothing. Picked up answer from Audiworld post. Removed fuse 15 (instrument cluster) & 28 (fuel pump), turned on ignition or to start the car - might not start, but mine did), put fuses back in. Fuel gauge now correct.

1. Look at your wheel well, remove all screws and the two plastic pin-screws from the about 5cm x 25cm plastic peace in the wheel well (quite visible). do this on both sides. Then remove the lower front grille (rip it out after removing two small screws going horizontally inwards from about the middle). After that, remove the two bolts holding down the airbag sensor tubes. these are located behind the lower front grille. Then use a screwdriver to bend the upper corners outwards while pulling the bumper forwards. Repeat on the other side. This has been tested on a 1995mod A4. I cannot guarantee that its the same on the 1996.

It is on the exhauist manifold. I suggest you get a manual on your car from AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM and it will acquaint you wiht all of the things under the hood. Our cars don't have BOV's! They have By Pass Valve's so the excess air get sent back to the airbox and get metered. And it's located on a hose which goes from the air box down to the turbo. It's also got a little 1/8" hose which connects to the top of it. It's basically located behind and a little below the Passenger Side headlamp. Easiest way to get to it is from the bottom of the car with the belly pan cover take off.

The curb weight of the 2012 Audi A4 is 3505 lbs..

If its a tiptronic, its "permanent." If you have transmission problems, best take it to a VW/Audi tech.
