What are the differences between a normal car and a Formula One car?
Essentially F1 car brakes are the same as on your road car, they are discs clamped hydraulically by calipers which squeeze brake pads onto the rotating disc surface. The driver pushes the brake pedal which forces a piston in and pushes brake fluid down the brake pipes to the caliper where the larger surface area of the pistons there creates a hydraulic leverage effect whereby a large movement by the driver is converted to a small but powerful movement in the brake calipers. The main difference with F1 brakes is the materials used for the friction material and calipers. The discs and pads are made of carbon reinforced carbon which can cope with massive temperatures without fading and produce huge amounts of friction to slow the car down. The pistons in the caliper are made from titanium because its strong and resists heat well as well as having low heat conduction properties that stop the heat boiling the brake fluid. Modern F1 cars use 4 or 6 piston calipers at the front, the discs are suprisingly small at 278mm diameter, which is smaller than many road cars. This is not suprising though when you consider they are made from cheaper materials and have to stop 4 or 5 times the weight, albeit from slower speeds less frequently. Interestingly F1 brakes take some time to bite after the pedal is pressed. This is because the carbon needs to heat up before it displays good friction properties. This takes 1/10th of a second where the driver feels little retardation while the brakes heat up, once they do its like hitting a wall as the brakes reach 1000's degrees and stop the 500kg cars with 4g or more of deceleration.

Formula 1 is the most expensive sport because of its exclusivity.
Not everyone can go racing where as everyone can go and play a bit of foot ball.
This means that advertisers see it as a good oppertunity so spend lots of money getting their name to the top.what this requires is money to buy the best engineers. money to buy the best drivers and money to buy the best directors.
This isn't cheap as they are contesting with the other 13 teams trying to do the same.
Also the materials used are ridculouly expensive. coupled with the engineering processes their price increase even more.
And f1 driver is paid on average the same as Wayne Rooney. that's an average so some get even more!!!!!!
Red bulls senior engineer also gets paid the same as Wayne Rooney (roughly and annual salary of £5mil)
Hope this has helped

IHRA is the International Hot Rod Association. In IHRA, you dial-in a certain time which your car will usually run. If you run faster than that, you do something called Breakout. How you start is you heat your tires by doing a burnout. then you pull up to something which is called a Christmas tree. It really isn't a Christmas tree, but it senses when you break two beams. Which is called staging.once you and the other driver stage. The Christmas Treecounts down, as it does 3 lights come on in a certain order. Then it senses when you take off. two lights represent this. One is green. One is Red. Green=good start. Red=too early. If you are Red its called a RedlightGo To NHRA.com for more info.!!!!!!

Stock passenger cars of the early 1930s would go up to 50 mph, and some later V-8's and V-12's went over 80 mph. By the end of the 1930s, cars were reaching the modern level of 100 to 120 mph. That became pretty much the designed top speed, which was dangerous enough on older roads.
