A plie is a bending of the knees in ballet, or most any other style of dance. They can be petit(just a slight bend) or grande(large bend where you are nearly touching the floor), and in every foot position(1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th). A plie is done before and after every jump/leap in order to reduce the shock that goes down your legs and can cause injuries. A plie is the most basic skill in dancing.

Demi Pointe is a releve in flat shoes (Not Pointe Shoes). A releve is when you lift your heels and all that you are standing on is the balls of your feet and the bottoms of your toes. Hope that helps! :]

Ballet slippers are made of cloth and can be dyed any color. They are usually sold in light pink which can be easily dyed.

Ballet slippers are usually light brown (tan), light pink, Black, or white.

The most popular color is light pink. Light pink ballet slippers are usually worn by girls, and are especially traditional for girls during recitals.

Boys usually where the white ballet slippers.

Black is more commonly found in pointe shoes, but ballet slippers can be black too.

PILATES, PILATES, PILATES. Go to some Pilates Mat classes, and ask the instructor to assist you with regard to flexibility and strength training. It takes time so don't over do it.Pilates was developed on The New York City Ballet, so it is basically designed for dancers. Make sure your instructor is qualified and/or has a dance background.

You can also try Yoga for some great stretching and core strength excercises.

Performing developpes in succession will also help extension, but only if you make it a regular habit.

The Nutcracker is a dance done by many companies. Clara, the lead role is having a party on Christmas Eve. Her Uncle Drosslmire, who is a toy maker, gives Ckara a nutcracker. Late at night, after all the guest have gone home and everyone is in bed, Clara sneeks down stairs to cheak on the nutcracker. She falls asleep on the living room sofa and the evil mice, lead by the rat king come and attack her! The nutcracker then become as young, handsome prince and fights the Rat King. Just as the Rat KIng is about to defeat the Nutcracker prince, Clara throws her slipped at the Rat King and he is killed! The Nutcracker Prince then brings Clara to the land of sweets were the Sugar PLumFairy and many other beautiful dancers preform for Clara and the Prince. Then, Clara wakes up, relizing it was just a dream, and lives happily ever after with her Nutcracker! I am actually working on a sequal to the story, scince my Great Grandfather wrote the music for the original Nutcracker, and this is my 6th year dancing in the Nutcracker.

I'm a dancer myself, and I'll try my best to explain. As Brandon Harrell once said, "Dancers can dance their life story better than they will ever be able to tell it." Whenever I'm sad, I dance. It makes me feel like nothing matters. It makes me want to dance forever. I get this feeling, that I can't explain. It's like I'm flying, and I never want to come down again. It's a great thing, a beautiful thing.

You have to stretch. Its the only way to warm up your musscle. If you don't you get cramps and could lead to hurting yourself. Do some splits do some push up sit up crunches etc....... So always stretch before dance!

They may not be the strongest, but they certainly are strong. Ballerinas often have great control over their bodies and how they move, along with being strong. After all, their legs have to be able to support propelling them into the air on leaps and holding fast on turns.

Ballerinas are incredably strong and probobly are the strongest athletes out there

Massage them everyday, this may sound weird but it is a great technique.

Step on the toe part of the shoe, not too hard or you may break them.

Also keep bending them back and forth.
