You are 13 and on grade 3 ballet How long will it take you to get on to your pointes?

AnswerI'm really sorry to tell you that you will never be able to go on pointe. Pointe work normally starts in intermediate foundation ballet when you are about 14-15. When you reach this grade you will be 17 and it will be to late to begin as pointe work mostly begins from age 9-12 only. AnswerI turned 15 last week, and I started ballet 2 months ago when I was 14. I have private lessons (another girl and I). We were both complete beginners to ballet, though I take tap and the other girl takes jazz. Our teacher started us at Grade 3, and said that this week we would move onto Grade 4.

My teacher then told us today that we were actually going to begin Intermediate Foundation (ie. skip 7 grades). I was really surprised, but my teacher says that in a years time we will do the Intermediate Foundation exam and then start Intermediate work. Intermed. Foundation, as you may be aware, is when you normally start pointe work, and the average age for intermediate foundation is around 13-16. I am proud that I am working at the same level as my 16 year old friend who has been doing ballet for 12 years!!! My teacher is just pushing us to do and achieve our best.

So basically, don't give up because I am 15 and beginning pointe work late this year and next year or sometime. I have only been doing ballet 2 months and I'm actually not very good- though I love it!

You can still get to pointe work standard!

Maybe you should talk to your teacher about how you want to achieve intermediate foundation level, and she/he may push you harder.

Answer

I am 13 and in intermediate Foundation on pointe and am doing my exam next week but if you are in grade 3 and work hard you may still be able to go on pointe later maybe even skipping some grades. Never give up hope if you really want to go on pointe maybe discuss some options with your teachers and they might send you to the physio therapist to get your feet examined. Good Luck!

I am 13 in grade as well and in inter foundation as well as that and in grade 3 its my second year so its my exam and after my grade 3 exam in grade 4 we go to demi pointe so ill be 14. Because im In inter foundation tho it might be me and others who take that class get there a little faster.

How do you learn to do a split?

ANYONE can learn how to do the splits if they truly work at it. But before you attempt your split make sure to stretch your legs. Don't ever go into your split without stretching.

Simple stretches work to, start with: touching your toes, butterfly stretch, lunges.

It is very important to stretch every day, even busy people can fit stretches into their day. If you can't find much time, try to setting aside smaller times in your day like... when you wake up, while you are watching T.V. and before you go to bed. This can be just as effective.

after you've warmed up you are ready to go into your splits! Start by going down as far as you can into your splits, if you are in pain pull up a little but keep a position that you are still getting a good stretch. Hold it for at least 30 seconds, preferably more but 30 is good to start out with. Don't ever force your way down into the splits. If you are not naturally flexible you might have to be patient, but if you stay with it, you'll get it. :)

Good luck!

What exactly does the term the body for ballet dancing mean?

For females,it means flat-chested,long neck, short torso and under a certain weight for whatever your height is.The male ballet dancer always has to be taller than the female and physically fit.And of course be strong enough to lift her.

the term "a body for ballet dancing" generally means that you need to have the "ideal" body for dancing; which often means being skinny, eating with a right diet, having skinny feet, a graceful etiquette, etc. in actuality, that is not the case though, although you can't be "bulky". there's a fine-line between skinny, slender, and just...overweight or chubby. ballerinas usually have very small boobs but they still have boobs one of the reasons why this is because they are so fit and strong (this might sound weird) that their boobs get like muscles and they stay small.

What injuries do dance floors prevent?

At the dance studio i go to, they have springs underneath the floors and they help us immensly with our joints. The main purpose of the floors is to cushion the bouncing and slamming that happens over and over again when dancing. Dance floors also have specific coverings that prevent a dance from slipping.

What is meant by the term pointe ballet?

The pointe technique in ballet is used when the dancer's body weight is shifted to the foot. The dancer appears to be standing on just her toes. While some men dancers do this, the majority are women.
