Why do you do warm ups before you do an activity?
Basically;
The human body energy production can be Aerobic or anaerobic, (with or without oxygen)
While anaerobic effort, is a short time effort such as weightlifting needs a large quantity of energy over a very short time it is produced differently in our cells.
running a mile needs Aerobic energy production -
it is the use of a lot of oxygen during time to produce energy. and the heart, blood system and breathing system needs to adjust to Aerobic production of energy, its like gears in a car...
Another reason is muscle function and flexibility - wormed up muscle are more flexible and can preform better and safer.
Both anaerobic and aerobic modes are crucial for survival.

What are the chances of being accepted into the School of American Ballet's summer program?
Having gone to SAB, I know they accept around 200-250 students. Around 2500-3000 audiition. So you have approximately a 10 percent chance. If one doesn't get in they should always try the next year. I didn't get in the first year but did the second.
they don't bother me, but it may be because I'm used to them and wear them 4 times a week, since I was 7. they feel semi-natural. revolution brand tights are definitely the most comfortable ones I've tried, and they are nice and stretchy. however, because they are so stretchy, they rip easily.

Definition of pas de bra ballet movement?
I think you mean port de bras. It means 'movement of the arms' and involves moving the arms through different positions in a continuous and graceful movement.
A basic port de bras is where the arms go from bras bas, to first, to second, then back down the bras bas.
A full port de bras is where the arms go out to second, then as you fold down, keeping your legs straight, the arms lift to 5th.
Here are all the arm positions I can think of - bras bas, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 1st arabesque, 2nd arabesque, 3rd arabesque, open 5th, demi seconde, demi bras, and also many more will be used in ballet routines that don't have names.

Why do Dancers use pointe shoes?
Dancers use pointe shoes to make them look taller, give the thought that they are on their toes, to give their body a more graceful line.
we wear tights to give us freedom of movement while we dance, it would be impossible to perform some of the moves needed if you were wearing jeans etc. Also they do not rub. Another reason is that they make it easier for a teacher to see what we are doing and help to improve our dance technique. A further reason it they are simple and tight, so they fit into soft and point shoes like no socks could, and if they get ruined they are fairly cheap to replace.
The tights allow more freedom of movement that just about any other leg garment. Even sweat-pants wouldn't give you that much slack. Tights keep the legs fairly warm, allow those to see your legs and feet quite clearly and absorb perspiration fairly well. It's just the most logical choice.
The Itallian ballerina Marie Camargo started the whole trend of wearing tights for ballet. The rest is history...

Everyone has differently shaped feet, so it just depends on the person.
