well with ballet you should start before you 20. And boys are put off by tutus and things like that when they are young. So by the time they are 20 and realise that ballet is not JUST for girls then they willl consider it. But they probably won't become a pro since they are quite old. BUt they might!

How does ballet help you?

Ballet helps strengthen your whole body and improves your awareness of it. You learn how to use your muscles and they become stronger too. You also become more flexible. Ballet also improves your rhythm and musicality. It may also help your confidence and self-esteem. It will also tone your body especially your abs. However, the more ballet you do the more you will feel these effects. For example, I do about 5 and 1/2 hours of dance a week, which is made up of two vocational classes (ballet) and two grade classes (ballet) as well as a modern dance class (about 45 minutes). I have found since I started doing this in September in a few months I have seen a huge change in my body, my legs are more muscular and my biceps are really toned as well as the fact that my abs are flat (! for me!)

If you are female, pointe really makes a difference to your body as to keep yourself up there you use your whole body. Pointe helps strengthen your legs but makes a huge difference to your core also.

It can mean anything from being able to go through your metatarsal to having a good point to having great arches.

(by Dane Youssef)

The kind of feet that are best equipped for ballet--high arches, high insteps. That will suit jumps, pointe, piroutte, tendus and whathave you.

I have received acclaim for my own feet--made for ballet, which I've been taking for nine whole years. You don''t just have to be born with it.

I've developed them to make them even better.

It's called good old fashioned hard work. To work, to feel, to sweat and strain.

To suffer and become one with the music. That's what ballet has always been about.

Is it ok to wear black tights with black dress and black shoes or should it be lighter tights?

hi there! i think it would be ok, but it depends on where your wearing it. you could pair it with a wite jaket or sweater, or lighter tights like grey tights. you could also add to it with classy accessories like a red faux paten leather bag, pearls, or metal bangals. you could also wear the black shoes but maybe with a twist. ex. black faux paten leather shoes or black shoes with a metal embelishment on the toe. i hope this helped and good luck
