What United States state had the first professional baseball game in the northeastern part?
The first professional baseball league in the United States was the National Association who began play in 1871. Finding schedules for the games played is very difficult if not impossible. To know which team played the first game in the northeast is extremely difficult to determine. I can tell you that there were three northeastern teams in the National Association in 1871. Those teams were the Troy (NY) Trojans, New York Mutuals, and Boston Red Stockings. So that would mean the first professional game in the northeast was played in one of those three cities.

Fewest number of hits both teams mlb game?
In MLB, 1. Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers threw a perfect game against the Chicago Cubs on September 9, 1965 winning 1-0. Bob Hendley, the Cubs pitcher, gave up one hit.
On May 2, 1917 Fred Toney of the Cincinnati Reds and Hippo Vaughn of the Chicago Cubs threw no hitters through nine innings. Vaughn gave up two hits and a run in the tenth inning and Toney retired the side in order to win 1-0 and preserve his no hitter. This was the only game in MLB history where neither team got a hit in the first nine innings of play.
I was at Dodger Stadium for Koufax's perfect game -- the most interesting and little known fact is that the Dodger's one run was unearned -- a walk, stolen base and a throwing error. The one hit they did get, a double, came two or three innings later and the runner was stranded. This could easily have been a two no-hit game.

I am a New Yorker born in 1934 and remember all my live the exsistance of Yankees playing baseball in New York. I was raised in the Bronx, went to Walton High School and use to pass the Yankee stadium twice a day for 4 years. I did go see games in the Bronx. I do not remember the dates. I love the Yankees when they loose I cry when they win I sleep well. All of them are my favorite. I do not know how long they are playing because I live in Puerto Rico 51 yrs. I miss the games on t.v. cause they are not transmitted all the time. I get angry cause there is no need not to see them play but the companies do not transmit their games to Puerto Rico all the time.
I feel fortunate to see them this World Series playing cause it might be my last.
Thank you or letting me say what I feel. New York is my home, the Bronx is where I was raised, and soon I will say good bye.

What were the Detroit Tigers called before the tigers?
There are various legends about how the Tigers got their nickname. One involves the orange stripes they wore on their black stockings. Tigers manager George Stallings took credit for the name; however, the name appeared in newspapers before Stallings was manager. Another legend concerns a sportswriter equating the 1901 team's opening day victory with the ferocity of his alma mater, the Princeton Tigers.
Richard Bak, in his 1998 book, A Place for Summer: A Narrative History of Tiger Stadium, pp. 46-49, explains that the name originated from the Detroit Light Guard military unit, who were known as "The Tigers". They had played significant roles in certain Civil War battles and in the 1898 Spanish-American War. The baseball team was still informally called both "Wolverines" and "Tigers" in the news. The earliest known use of the name "Tigers" in the media was in the Detroit Free Press on April 16, 1895. Upon entry into the majors, the ballclub sought and received formal permission from the Light Guard to use its trademark. From that day forth, the team has been officially called the Tigers.
A 1950s Signature pennant can sell as high as $150.00. A pennant with a popular players name like Stan Musial on it will increase the value as will if it is from a championship year. A pennant with the old Busch Stadium would also be more collectible. And like everything else supply and demand will determine the price. Condition is always Key.

Why do some baseball teams have names on their jerseys while other teams do not?
It tends to be a matter of home team etiquette overcoming blatant commercial advertising of a player's name. Teams like the Red Sox and Dodgers and Yankees (the Red Sox are the only one I can name for sure) don't put the names of the players on the home jerseys, probably because the hometown faithful are expected to know who they are. On the road jerseys, however, their names are listed, as is the case with any teams that have blank home jerseys that I know of. **** Correction. The Yankees do not have their names on their home jerseys OR their away jerseys.
