Beagles

I do believe beagles are great with kids especially older kids younger kids could pull there ears and mess with them and and pull there tail so they arn't very good with young kids like the ages 4 and younger.

This is not a yes or no kind of question. You really need to look at it in a case by case situation. Beagles are great family pets and are very good with children. That said... beagles, especially puppies, are stubborn and can be difficult to train. They require a regular routine and constant correction during the young years to keep them well behaved and happy. It is my opinion that a 10 year old would not have the patience or attention span to properly deal with a beagle puppy and in the end would be disappointed that the puppy is not behaving in a likeable manor. This will most likely result in you having to deal with training. Oh course this is not necessarily true with all children. I will point out that Beagles are one of the most common puppies to be returned, the main reason being that the owners do not realize the work involved with beagle puppies. This is unfair and not a good situation for the puppy either. They are not usually recommended for first time dog owners or kids.

Beagle are a great breed and make a great companion for a family but take some time and do some good research in to the behavior of Beagles to make a good informed decision as to weather a Beagle is right for your family.

1 Your dad probably just dont want to take care of the beagle.

2 Beagles are cute dogs but they have alot of negatives, bark all the time, howl, like to chew furniture and other household objects, pee where they want and when they want.

How old is dog, possible heart trouble, this can cause a cough, is the dog panting alot or constant this is a sign of cushings disease and both can be treated.

What my dad did with our dog is we got her to stop digging and how we did that is we put chicken wire under the ground and when our beagle tried digging she got annoyed by the chicken wire. Hope it helps.

Most cats and dogs will get along after they've been around each other for a while. You'll just have to introduce them slowly and make sure you stay close in case something happens. My family has had cats and dogs at the same time my entire life and we haven't had any problems. It might take a little time but they should get used to each other after a while and things will work out.

yes, actually they always think about food it's constanly on their mind since they starve themselves. they actually become fascinated with food. they like to see others consume it. so they do think of food but try no to because of the fear of becoming fat.

beagles can have 2 types of temperaments, excited: mostly when they see someone new or see a new dog- don't be afraid, they aren't crazy, just happy-

the second temperament is relaxed. they are very sweet and love everyone who is nice to them. the only thing you have to know is they will get a little crazy if you don't take they for walks at all

I would get a lab because beagles have the habit of running away to follow a scent because they are actually scent hounds.Labs are sporting dogs(hunting dogs)and are extreemely trainable and very friendly.But if someone in your family is alergic or sensitive to dander get a Labradoodle witch is a mix beetwen a lab and a poodle.

Depends on the beagle and how well trained they are. We dog sit a beagle and she barks when people arrive at the house but not much else. When she does barks it is LOUD. They are not quiet dogs.

Humping is a one way that canines try to display dominance. It is often part of the puppy learning their place in the pack. They can start trying to display they are "top dog" at a very young age. Males and females do this. If the adult has been in the family and comfortable in their position, they will likely put the pup in their place sooner or later.

I can only comment on my dog (a 14 month old beagle) and she shivers when it gets below 60 degrees, but she was born and raised in Arizona. Look around for breeders in Alaska, and ask them questions. Then, if at all possible, go to a local shelter and save a beagle from being euthanized. I think if you find a dog that doesn't know any other climate, they'll be fine there.

If you mean coming in the house, its because beagles LOVE to smell and sniff. If you want to bring her in, try food. Beagles love that just as much!
