How long do benzodiazepines show up on a drug screen?

The benzodiazepine molecule, itself, shows up in the drug test. (At the core of all benzos, such as Xanax, Valium, Klonopin and all of the other benzos, is the benzodiazepine molecule.) It is made up of a benzene ring attached to a hexane ring substituted by two azo (nitrogen-based) groups, and then connected to a second benzene ring. What makes each benzo medication different are the additional molecular groupings attached either to the benzene rings or to the azo substituted hexane ring.

Is promethazine a benzodiazepine?

Answer

No. Hydroxyzine Pamoate, better known as Vistaril is an antihistamine originally used for pruritus (itching) however Zyrtec (cetirizine), an active metabolite of hydroxyzine and Xyzal (levocetirizine), a slightly altered version of cetirizine are primarily used for pruritus.

Some low quality evidence suggests that Vistaril may be useful in treating anxiety. It is often used in patients with a history of substance abuse or those with a significant risk of developing substance abuse. However it is becoming more commonly used in all patients due to the fact it is not a drug of abuse where as benzodiazepines do have an abuse potential.

Benzodiazepines, with a few exceptions, are easily identified by their name which typically ends with "pam" or "am" examples include

alprazolam, bromazepam,, clonazepam, diazepam, estazolam, flunitrazepam, flurazepam, lorazepam, midazolam, nitrazepam, oxazepam, quazepam, temazepam, and triazolam.

Notable exceptions include chlordiazepoxide and clorazepate.

Can you take Valium with cipramil?

Not without medical advice.

I know citalopram users from www.nomorepanic.co.uk who have found that taking Kalms (which contain valerian) at HALF the stated dose, helps to treat anxiety. I tried it myself and suffered disorientation and derealisation for about an hour.

While reading up on valerian online I found that citalopram reacts with valerian and taking the two together may caused increased feelings of depression.

Can Klonopin ambien and xanax be taken together?

A hypothetical patient may be prescribed this combination.

It is important to note, however, that many of these medications have similar side effect profiles, and therefore the combination is not safe for ALL patients.

Additionally, due to these side effects, many of these medications may not be safe for all patients to use simultaneously, even if prescribed for use in the same day.

All four of these medications require a prescription. Therefore they should only be used (alone or in combination) under the specific instructions of your doctor or other provider.

All medications have risks as well as benefits. A prescriber ordering this combination believes that the benefits are greater than the risks. Discuss your individual concerns with the prescriber or your pharmacist.

Xanax (aka - alprazolam) is an anti-axiety pill that may only be obtained via a physician's prescription. It is habit-forming and should not be mixed with other medications (unless your physician is aware) or taken with alcohol. The 1 mg tablet is a bluish-oval shaped pill.

A great website for drug information is pharmer.org or the "What's My Pill?" site. Go there and type in the numbers or letters or even description of any pill and they should be able to tell you everything about what it contains and who makes it, sometimes with pictures.

Benzos (Klonopin) and narcotics do not mix well. In even small doses the mixture can cause respiratory arrest.

Some pain management and surgical procedure patients are given a prescription for both, but they are told to take the Benzo for sleep and the narcotic for daytime pain.

Also, if or when you decide to stop taking them, Benzos are almost impossible to detox from - They change your brain chemistry, permanently.

Can you take Paxil and Xanax with Ambien?

I don't have the answer to this question, but I have some advice: Many drugs can be fatal if mixed. I would only accept an answer from a doctor concerning this question. Not without consulting the prescribing physician. Both medications are used to treat depression, combining the two could result in increased side effects and alter the effect the medication has on the condition for which it was prescribed. Thats really between you and the prescribing doctor, they are 2 well used medications. High sucess rate of treating their respective illness, I would suggest if you have cocerns whether they are good together you check it out with your doctor. Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline [e.g., Elavil], amoxapine [e.g., Asendin], clomipramine [e.g., Anafranil], desipramine [e.g., Norpramin], doxepin [e.g., Sinequan], imipramine [e.g., Tofranil], nortriptyline [e.g., Aventyl], protriptyline [e.g., Vivactil], trimipramine [e.g., Surmontil])?Taking a tricyclic antidepressant together with paroxetine may increase the risk of side effects. Your doctor may need to adjust the dose of either medicine or check blood levels of the tricyclic antidepressant. Also, taking paroxetine with amitriptyline, clomipramine, or imipramine may increase the chance that the serotonin syndrome will develop. You may want to check out things with your doctor, this doesn't mean they can't be taken together. It just means the interaction might be more adverse if they are. You might be required to keep a closer eye on what and how your medication are interaction, and reacting to you while taking them. It's a good idea to talk this over with the prescribing doctor. Elavil might be prescribed (in lower dose) for many other indication than depression. If you use Elavil to prevent migraines, as example, you can take Paxil for a depression. However, like said before, you might experiment higher side effects related to Paxil and Elavil (dry mouth, diziness, sleeping, etc..)

Will taking Wellbutrin and Xanax together hurt you?

Tmoxicillin slows down the metabolism rate of wellbutrin. That means that after a while of taking both of them, there becomes a buildup of wellbutrin in your system and this can cause problems or in my case a seizure on the 10th day of taking them both. Bad idea.
