What was the Bering land bridge?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It was a stretch of glacier ice that connected russia with Alaska (Asia with North America) across the Bering strait. It formed during an ice age that let native peoples 20,000 years ago to settle into Canada and America, and further south, all the way to present-day Argentina and Chile. These are what we know as native Americans. They formed separate tribes over time. Today, we are still trying to mimic the effects of the ice age by building a real bridge. This gap is over 50 miles of icy, cold terrain. Thick air and temperatures would prevent people from seeing or breathing. Hypothermia would set in.
