Standard cell phones do not meet the international safety standards for use in hazardous areas. Intrinsic safety is one of several methods used to ensure worker safety while using electrical appliances and equipment in gaseous hazardous area. For standard everyday use cell phones the added cost of meeting these standards would massively increase the cost of the handsets and, because the standard defines various levels of gas hazard it would be impossible to educate all users as to what is safe and what is not each hazard area.

The hazardous goods industry including all of the major chemical and petrochemical manufacturers and refiners operating in developed countries apply one or more of the various international safety standards. This is either by regulation from worker safety bodies or by the individual company's own OH&S regulations.

International standards for "explosion protection" provide technical standards and methods of testing for all electrical equipment used in hazardous areas where it may, through either design or fault or malfunction cause a spark or "hot spot" which would be capable of igniting the types of gases in the area.

The explosion protections standards used in Europe are from the International Electrotechnical Commission and enforced and regulated through the Government mandated ATEX regulations. The approvals are based on meeting typically either the IEC standards (IECEx) or Cenelec Standards. These standards are also now commonly accepted in the USA where section 500 of the National Electrical Code regulates and defines compliance. Other standards typically accepted in the world are from Underwriter's Laboratories or Factory Mutual (USA) as well as CSA (Canadian Standards).

Intrinsic safety is one of 9 methods of explosion protection. Intrinsic safety infers that the unit is "intrinsically safe", i.e. it cannot cause an unsafe situation due to it design. The design criteria typically demands multiple (sometimes triple, depending on the application) layers of electrical protection (safety barriers) to allow multiple faults to occur in the unit and yet still allow compliance. Other type of protection, often mistakenly called "intrinsic safety" include encapsulation, oil filled and enhanced protection, Ex e.

Blackberry phones are "Smart Phones". A Smart Phone is a phone/cell with internet, music, games, e-mail, text, camera, video/camcorder, ect. Basically EVERYTHING you need, is on the Blackberry. I know this because everyone in my family has either a Blackberry Curve, or a Blackberry Pearl. Any of the Blackberry phones that are made would have internet and all that good stuff, but if your like some people, just get a low-cost phone, without all the hi-tech material. Blackberry phones can cost up to $300-$600, depending on the Blackberry YOU want. My Opinion- The Blackberry Curve or the Blackberry Pearl, would be the way to go. I got mine off Ebay bacause it saved me a hell of alot of money. I hope all this helps you.

You can't (unless you are in law enforcement), but if the call was harassing, you can call your carrier (or the cops) and have them take action. Tell them that you received a harassing call, and give them the phone number and date and time of the call. There are some web sites, that for a fee, will give you the name of the person to whom the cell number belongs. Just google various wordings of "reverse cell phone look-up".

No. T-mobile is a gem network and Sprint is coma. They are totally incompatible.

Most Blackberry's do not have the power to make a wifi-hotspot. Why because they are based on the 3G network therefore internet speed would be very slow.

However If you device is able to make a hotspot simply go to the black berry market place search "PDANet" there is full step by step instructions in how to make a wifihotspot on your blackberry device.

it really depends on your phone type and where you got it from etc, ask whoever you've purchased it from but all you have to do is sync sogs from the blackberry usb stick onto your phone and then it will automatically be there on your blackberry playbook. Yes, you can use a prepaid SIM on the phone, if you just want to use your Blackberry Storm for texting and calling, however, if you want to use the phone for data as well, you would need to register the device for a Blackberry Data plan.

I just called Juno's customer support, and they said that they couldn't even delete it (some help they are).

They did tell me, however, that if you do not log in to your e-mail account for 60 days it will be considered inactive and will be deleted from their system.

I just called that # and they said: From the account you want to delete, send an email to abuse@support.juno.com. In the Subj line, type "Cancel free membership." In the body, type "Cancel my account for (your email)."

Incidentally, I asked him why they couldn't just post these simple steps on the Juno website. He had no answer....

In order to delete a Juno email account online that is free you will have to have the Juno 5.0 CD-ROM. Ask Juno's customer service to send you a 5.0 CD-ROM. Install it on your computer and download your email account to your computer. Once downloaded, click the Juno icon on your desktop and the opening window will appear. Look to the right on the screen you will see delete or import account. Enter screename and password then click delete account. This will permanently delete the account from your computer and Juno's central computers. If you have a paid Juno account you will have to call Juno's customer service to get it deleted.
